Delighted to see you working on a bigger lawn, looks great!! Mine is about twice the size & while the grass itself looks perfect, the whole lawn looks like the surface of the moon with all the thistle! In ROI. What’s best for those thistle Robbie? Couldn’t possibly pull all by hand, there’s about 3000!

A herbicide called thrust (professional product) thistles have waxy leaves and most weed control products have trouble sticking to them

Hi Robbie great video. Have just aerated and scarified my lawn by hand, it's not too bad but want to make it even better than last year. Once I over-seed it, do I put down a fertiliser or is seaweed sufficient? How long should I leave it before I mow again?

Cracking vid again Robbie! Question. Why do you rake after you had gently stomped in the topdressed and overseeded section? I would have thought that would have undone the pressing down you just did for good seed to soil contact. Cheers!

Hi Robbie, new to your channel and finding it’s a life saver! I’m brand new to the industry and currently using a granular lawn fertiliser that takes forever to dissolve, can you help by recommending an alternative to this especially when over seeding. Much appreciated keep up the great vids 👍

Hi Robbie, great video. I was planning to do a job on my lawn, the lawn is 2 years and in good nick but needs a bit a kick to give it that fairway look. It also needs leveling I'm planning to aerate it but do I then top dress it with sand to help fill the holes for drainage? Want to then overseed it so do I then need to top dress it with soil to help germination? Thanks

It's hard to grow grass in seed A good quality 70/30 will do both 👍

Great channel, but have a bit of difficulty finding proper topsoil, etc because I live in Finland. Producers use almost every product more or less clay. Even in the sand... Could do someday bit of info about what you seek from topsoil? What should be in it, how much, etc. And sand, what kind of sand? Screened or crushed? What is in those fertilizers, iron etc, and how many %? And what kind of weedkillers should be used. Trying to get rid of meadow buttercup and soldiers herb (dunno if I got them right in English). And also there is quite a harsh winter where I live, so how and when to do things when there are sometimes loads and loads of ice and snow during winter. When to start aeration or scarify after winter. And what to do and when before winter. And don't have the faintest idea what those tuna cans were doing on the lawn.

The tuna cans are to measure how much water is being delivered onto the next. Once they are full it's time to move the sprinkler

I saw u aerated first then dethatched which the dethatcher would help w breaking up the cores but then I see u of course picked up the thatch that was brought up from the machine …. I’m assuming u picked up the cores w the thatch I’m just curious tho as what u Recommend to do as far as the plugs Leave them or pick up???

We 100 percent always pick them up. We aerate first as it we did it after the scarify we wouldn't be able to see where the lines are and would miss areas. If we were to scarify and clean up and then aerate and clean up again... The cost would be to much for most people

Ahh the tuna can. Either using it to measure how much water has been applied or how much has fallen naturally. I recognise this property, was it one of your first or something like that?

You can sow now, if it turns cold it probably won't grow. It's a gamble. Better to wait to mid April

You’ve probably been asked this a thousand times… !! When you have aerated a lawn and removed those cylinder pieces of earth, do you fill the resulting holes with sand or something similar? Since watching your videos on lawn maintenance I have started to tackle my front and back lawn, and I would appreciate some guidance on the above issue.
