Dude, I’ve been at it all day but my water from my new system is on right now! I pulled the old one at 180’ and replaced the pump, wire and pipe. You saved me a ton of money I didn’t have right now thanks to answering some questions. Thanks a million sir.

Once again, your videos are a great help. I've never installed a submersible well. I do have extensive experience in industrial construction and maintenance, mostly in the pipe fitting craft so I do have experience working with above ground pumps and piping. Still, doing something I have very little knowledge of is stressful to say the least. Now, thanks to you, I fell Much better about doing this job. My deepest thanks again

Interesting video! Given the cost of a well a safety rope or cable doesn't cost enough to matter. I was looking for info on attaching them because I'd feel stupid not to have one as backup but I'll be using stainless aircraft cable (cheap online). The mentioning of "wadding" in this video was useful! I won't permit that to happen because I'll anchor it inside my pump house (which I built with room to stand up and work in because why not be comfortable?) rather than leaving it dead slack, and I'll select cable strong enough to use a winch and a snatch block so if I need it the weakest link will be the pump (depending on how I attach the cable). Necessary? Never so far, but the only reasons to not go for overkill are time and money and the money isn't squat. I do quality work but backup is beautiful. Poly rope is cheap and doesn't rot but that's about it. I've never seen poly rope on aircraft flight controls :-)=)/. Nicopress wedges are small so I'll use them instead of bulky cable clamps. I'm an aircraft mech, weldor and machinist with industrial maintenance experience and note most "traditional" solutions just evolved because they're dirt cheap. Compare rope and stainless cable breaking strength charts, it's no contest. I build, wire and plumb everything for fast, easy maintenance because I'm lazy and a little more thought at the beginning saves major pain years later. Consider what will make YOUR maintenance easy. A cable also makes lowering an assembly in a controlled manner easy and precise.

Would your recommendation be different for pumps set more than 600ft below the surface? Or at what depth is PE pipe at the edge of its tensile strength, given the load from the water column in the pipe, the weight of the pipe itself, the wire weight and the pump and fittings?

The 1hp 240 pump I bought says on the box to use a 15 amp breaker, the old one is 30 amp, 15 sounds low, am I missing something? Do they mean 15amps per 120 leg? Thanks for any advice

What would you consider too big for a safety rope?

I wouldn't count on my wire and crimped connections to retrieve a pump that's disconnected somehow from the drop pipe. Just saying.
