What's the deal, what's the deal! I am finally on the roof showing you how to install an #Owenscorning Duration shingle. In this video, I will be going over how to install shingles, cut holes for vents, installing the #ridgecaps the Legit way and how to install flashing. Also, we have a guy on our crew who is actually the worlds fastest quality shingler. If you can do it faster with a higher quality, leave your video in the comments.
Before I got to the house, I stopped by Roofline where Makita was throwing an event. We bought a new toy from them (the AN454 roofing nailer - www.makitatools.com/) which we will be doing a review of their nailer in the future.

I started as a canvasser then inspecting roofs for storm damage , working with insurance adjusters , project management and sales, estimator, learned how to put the bids together and I was hooked. Definitely trying to get my own company going. Really interested in learning to install better and get my skills up to be able to lead a crew. Mr. Legit has the best content I have seen. Amazing info and quality of the videos.

How are you using the gauge with the Bostich ?. Did you make some kind of modification with it. The reason I’m asking is because the notch settings are at 1/4” increments when the Duration is supposed to be 5 5/8” exposure.

Quick question…I live in a very arid part of Arizona where there are absolutely no trees to break the wind so everything takes a direct hit, and we do get extremely high winds here. With that said, do you nail above or below the tar strip?
@MrLegit

What shingle?
@johnwallace596
@johnwallace596 Жыл бұрын
The shingle type plays a factor? I haven’t selected a shingle yet I am trying to educate myself on the installation process to ensure I can do my home on my own. I’ve watched a lot of KZfaq videos and am seeing some nail above, below and a few right on the tar strip. But your video is the first to go into depth and in my opinion the best yet because you explain and show as you go. As well no negative comments on the thread saying you are doing this or that wrong. Learning something new everyday.
@MrLegit
@MrLegit Жыл бұрын
@john wallace Yes, the shingle plays a factor. The tar line is usually on the bottom and backside of the shingle, unless it's 3-tab. Don't use 3 tab though. It should tell you in the instructions.

You cut your books just like I do. I pre-cut for the whole side. The cuts are always on the gable. When I make a set of 5 one set goes on the starting side the other set goes on the finishing side. That way your always working with factory butts. Just like if your doing drywall or hardwood flooring. My dad was doing that with 3 tabs back in 1971. Back then he was using staplers and invented his own power ladder but never got a patent on it.

Vegans have an increased risk of dental erosion due to a high intake of acidic food and food high in natural sugar (like fruits). In addition, relying on starch-heavy food (like pasta) as a substitute for meat can lead to cavities, since starchy food get broken down in the mouth into sugar. It's best to limit the consumption of these foods and drink plenty of water to maintain a healthy saliva flow and a healthy pH in the mouth.
