HOW TO MAKE AN EBING TENBIN - JIGGING WHEN BITES ARE TOUGH
Presenting something small when the fish are not responding is something very familiar in shallow water. This is when the fish are extremely skittish or are homed in to something really small. In these instances, dropping something small like a small soft plastic could trigger them to feed. It could be that they are homed in to smaller bait like krill or small fish, it could be the temperature or if there is a predator around, fish could just suddenly shut down and become very selective. A tenbin is a spreader bar and also a presentation tool you attach a jig to for weight and it keeps the long leader from getting tangled on your line.

What is the advantage of this rig vs a dropshot or sinker rig?

Added attraction of the flashy jig. The jig can impart movement into the spreader bar helping to work your plastic and give it action. The weight isn't on the jig it self so it will look way more natural than a drop shot, it can swim about and isn't fixed to a tight line. It shouldn't tangle as the spreader bar will keep it away from your main line.

The dropshot is fixed on the leader - this has a very long leader. This is basically an anti tangle device to be used with very long leaders while the dropshot has a direct connection with your main line. it is a way to preset very small lures/flies to fish that are feeding on very small prey very far from an attracting object (the jig) it could be that the jig attracts them, but the lure/fly is the one that they want to bite.
