How I Recycle / Up-cycle ♻️ all those soap shavings and bits! Super easy Crock Pot method to make new soap from old! No waste ♻️ I'm using some leftover embeds to "pretty up" the top! #recycle #nowaste #soapmaking

Great video! I do the same. Sometimes is use it for making my own laundry detergent. Darker soap is used for dark loads and light colours for everything else. I really enjoy your videos. You make beautiful soap! God bless you and your family.

Hi Ellen! Little story time here... I bought 2 of your soaps a couple months ago, one cold processed and another one hot processed. Just to try some of your soaps because I'm a soap maker, and also to give you some support for sharing so many amazing tips here in your channel. As soon as we got the soaps and had a chance, I put one of them in our shower. My husband and I enjoyed them, specially the cold processed one. Anyways... last week I put one of my bars in the shower (Spice Orange), and my husband came to me and said: "Is that one of Ellen's soap? It's so good!" Lol I said "No, it's one of my soaps!". I just thought it was funny and I told him I would tell you :)

I also do not waste a scrap of good soap even lye heavy soap i repurpouse for shop rag wash!! No waste its tooo expensive to waste such a lovely soap!!

This is a great video! I'm rebatching (for the first time) the first soap I ever made about two months ago. It smells heavenly but it seized up on me (didn't know to not use immersion blender after adding fragrance oils if I didn't know how fast they would trace) so it was super clumpy. It also felt oily-ish to my family so I think I superfatted too much. I added a sprinkle of sugar in the crock pot for bubbles and a tad bit of sodium hydroxide to hopefully help harden it up. Hopefully it turns out! It'll probably end up being Christmas gifts for the men in my family. :) Edit: I meant to ask, where did you get the rose molds? I'd love to make some of those for my rose scented soap. :)

The embeds I used on top were piped soap from a previous batch. Also, I would do a pH test on your rebatch if you added extra lye, it might get lye heavy...

@@EllenRuthSoap I'm a dummy. LOL! I meant to say I added Sodium Lactate. Chemistry was always my worst subject. Thankfully, so far, I haven't blown anything up yet. XD I also just got my PH strips this week so I'll be testing (and trying each bar on myself) all of the soaps I've made before giving away as Christmas gifts. Thank you so much for your info! I love the soap making community. Everyone seems so helpful and nice!. :)

Any coconut milk powder will be good, just try to find one that doesn't have additives.

I up cycle everything in my house, not just my soaps so I love this regard hint but I don't have a beater and so when I have tried 3 times to do a whipped rematch followed directions exactly, but MI becomes out crumbly.. I'm trying to figure it out...blll

Hi Ellen, have you ever used yogurt powder? I bought some, but I'm not sure if you can just put the powder in the oils, or, if you have to mix it with some water?

Thanks 💕 yes, I've seen folks put a.small amount of shavings in warm water, let it sit, then use in a foaming pump😉

When I was making a batch of Tallow shampoo bars some thing really weird happened when I can bind the lye with the oils and started using my immersion blender it turned gloopy or gloppy at the bottom really bad I was able to incorporate all of it together and add my essential oils after being in the mold for 24 hours when I went to cut it it was just breaking and flaking into pieces any idea what I might have done wrong? Or if this would fix it?

Ellen when you make any soap that contains shreds, do you keep that for just your family? A few days ago I made a loaf of CP soap with all my soap shreds from trimming soap...and I'm not sure how I would label that for sale? I use the same recipe for 90% of my soaps...but I just don't know how I would label it accurately. Just wondering if all "recycled soap" should be for home use only?

Yes, when I make these bars they are for family and friends. I do make confetti soap, but I use shreds that have the same recipe as the base I'm using when I do that..

You see some people sale rebatch soaps on etsy and they list all ingredients they've ever used in all of their soaps lol. I've only ever gave mine away or used it.

I donate my rebatched soaps to a local help center that we have in my area. They provide shower facilities to homeless people and always need soap. I give them regular size bars and they can choose to give the clients a whole bar to keep or they can cut them into smaller bars.

@@gimomable You are very welcome. It is wonderful soap and it is nice to share something a little luxurious with those who have very little luxury. A woman's shelter or other homeless shelter or organization that makes toiletry bags for homeless people are good options too.

Ruth is it easier and quicker for you to do your videos and then just do a voice over instead of the usual way you do your channel, do you see a difference in that when you do shorts like this and the rematch is gorgeous

Personally, I am not a fan of rebatched soap, however, like you, I don't want to see any soap go to waste. So I do rebatch soap and then I donate it to our local help center that provides shower facilities for homeless people. I live in the mountains and we have a population that chooses to live rough in the woods and it is nice that they can come in and get a shower for free. It is still great soap, I just do not like the looks of it.
