A step-by-step process for making Frost/Ice and Ice wall spell effects for your tabletop gaming needs.
These spell effects were made using a few simple materials. I used Acrylic sheets (or any thin clear plastic), as well as hot glue, Shiny Pearl white paint, and small fine rock granules. These are really extremely affordable and you can make a TON of these walls for super cheap, especially if you go for the thin card protector ones that I made.
Our resident wizard likes to resolve conflicts without violence, so I needed to create an Ice Wall spell effect for him to use, as I see that spell coming up a lot in the future. It's an awesome ability, and this just adds a great new dimension to the gameplay.
If you have any ideas for what you would like to see built in the future, let me know in the comments down below! Then subscribe so you don't miss any new videos coming out in the future! Also, if you liked this, gimme that sweet sweet like.
If you make anything based off of my build, send me a pic on Twitter! I'd love to see it. / rybonator1

I know this is a slightly older video, but if you put a pencil or thin marker under the start of the cut on the acrylic, you can press down on the cut piece and break it slightly easier/more predictably. Worked at a glass shop so had to do this daily

btw with the plastic card protector things you could use silicone glue (that’s basically hot glue but not hot) so it won’t melt them. it takes longer to dry but i think it’s an alternative

These are absolutely beautiful! I think that my technique, I would put a cyan-blue wash over the glue, let it dry completely, and then add the pearlescent paint and the snow effects. I think it would just give the ice justthat little bit extra "This is cold!" effect Love your channel and I look forward to making some of these projects

to do things like vines, maybe use a thin wire or just general wire, u could even use thin wire and wrap it around itself to make some areas thicker to get the basic shape then using hot glue you can kinds go along it with the tip pointed down so it gets thin tip and kinda layer it where u want it to be thicker, then some primer paint and paint them with a mix of greens and browns

I don’t know if you saw but plaid has a FolkArt ® Enamels™ Mediums - Frost Medium so if you paint on the hot glue or run your thumb through a small paintbrush like to get things out of the brush but you run your thumb gently onto the plastic walls or use it on the base. Another more affordable way to make snow/ice/frost affect for the base is by mixing white glue, white acrylic paint, and baking soda and applying it with a tongue depressor.

Alternative to the card plastic could be the plastic sheets you find in some children’s toys packaging. Not the sturdiest thing but you could double up. Depending on the toy you could have enough for loads of those lil panels. You know those toy boxes that have the plastic side so you can see through the box to the toy? Those ones. I’m not saying go buy a bunch of toys, but if you’re at a young relative’s birthday or whatever, ask if you can keep some of the packaging if they don’t have a use for it. Odds are that the parents would have just thrown it away anyway. Barbies have heaps on the front. Hot wheels not so much.
