Mochiko chicken is one of the yummiest island favorites! I remember eating this as far back as when I was in intermediate school in the 70s. Yum!
2 lbs. boneless skinless chicken thighs
4 T. mochiko flour (which is gluten free)
4 T. corn starch
4 T. sugar
5 T. soy sauce
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 c. chopped green onions
2 cloves minced garlic
2 beaten eggs
Mix all together. Cut chicken into bite sized pieces. Add into the mix. Let marinate overnight, but stir chicken occasionally.
Fry. Eat. Yummy. Tastes even better when cold!
*NOTE: I have since started adding 4 T. of all purpose flour. I also only add in one egg. It's less watery and you get more of the covering on the chicken when you are done frying.
I'm working on a website! It will take some time to get it going, but here it is: www.cookingandcrafting.com/

Tammy and I have been friends for many years and met here on KZfaq! Since then we have met up in real life many times. You will LOVE her tutorials and learn how to decorate cupcakes better than most bakeries do. She lives in Canada, but I really wish she lived next door.
Also check out Jenn. You will love her as well. tinyurl.com/lahtvfp
She and I have just recently become YT besties, have now met in real life twice and done some video collaborations together. When we are together, we "get" each other. It is hard to explain to people sometimes what you do and it is nice to be comfy knowing that she also understands everything I am talking about. Oddly enough, she too lives in Canada. I may have to move there soon since such awesome ladies are produced there!
Lastly, smile! I like it when you smile :)

By the time I got there, the doorbell was broken from being rung 78,342 times. Looks like I'm going to have to go on a quest for Mochiko. The combination in that marinade looks fantastic! And I noted the (cough) 2 cloves of garlic. LOL

Whuddup! Aloha! Islander here replanted in Las Vegas. Thank you so much for this recipe. I tried others but yours is my favorite, easy to follow, but most importantly ONO!! It's become my families favorite during holidays. This is the dish everyone tells me to make. Mahalo, and I can't wait to try more of your recipes.

aloha! I'm happy you enjoy it. I've tried tweaking it some so that the mochiko flour would stick more to it, but still follow the basics of this recipe :)

Beth, this recipe is amazing!!! I love it and so does my bro. Made this recipe several times but used chicken breast at times instead. I'm 15 yrs old experimenting how to make food and it usually doesn't come out good. But this recipe is like a no fail one, at least for me. Thank you much. Tasted amazing.

It looks onolicious! I can't remember the last time I had mochiko chicken. This was our go to dish to take to local outdoor concerts & to the beach (when I lived back home in Hawaii). Also one of my favorites at the Okazuya! Oh, my mouth is watering already! I'm definitely making this soon! TFS! Aloha, Vina

I would love to come over right now and have some Mochiko Chicken. Instead, I am looking out at 4 inches of snow illuminated by the back yard light from the snowstorm that just hit the Washington, DC, area. It is 10 degrees Fahrenheit, and the temperature is still falling. I just put out a Fox Sandwich for the Red Fox that hangs out in my back yard so that he would not go hungry. ... Enjoy sunny Hawaii and your Mochiko Chicken! It looks quite tasty!

Why of course I thumbs up and Beth Marinates her food in a big plastic zip lock bag. What you think I haven't been paying attention all these years? ;) In case you ever need to know Aloha Shoyu Soy Sauce is sold at Amazon for 2.52 for 24 oz. Bust ships from Asian store. Mochiko Sweet Rice Flour, 16 oz, (Pack of, 6) for 12.38 at Walmart.com you can also get the Aloha soy sauce in a 6 pack there as well. Just not sure as it doesn't say Shoyo on it just Soy sauce. There is my good dead for everyone who reads the comments. I figured I would share since you are always so good at sharing your awesome recipes with all of us! OHH looks SO GOOD! LOL!!! I buy them in bulk at Costco. Four huge boxes for just under $10 when they have their coupons. I wish that there were a more Earth friendly option. But the sad fact is, it's easier for me to find room for a bag than those Tupperware containers for soaking food. Mom has a billion drinks and yogurts and all that stuff that things all all over if you attempt to put anything in ;)
