You can learn how to Make Polymer Clay Covered Crochet Hooks and Pens with this DIY tutorial video. Hi I'm Donna Wolfe from Naztazia. I'll show you how to cover your crochet hooks and ball point pens with polymer clay. Learn how to make grips for your crochet hooks to help ease your hands when crocheting. This is a very simple easy beginner polymer clay project. The thicker handles that are created with this on crochet hooks oftentimes helps crocheters hold the hook with less discomfort (due to arthritis, carpal tunnel, etc).

I am so excited! I cant wait to try this! I have all metal hooks in most sizes. I have also those tiny hooks that are used for doilies, I havent used them yet because not sure how I can handle holding the tiny handle, by using this clay tip, I will have no problems for sure, THANK YOU SO MUCH!! :D

I've never worked with polymer clay and love this idea! My only question is, after time if I want to changed he color of the clay, is the clay (after baking) easy yo remove?

I love this idea! So creative. I'm a crafting novice, and I've never worked with clay, so I'm wondering if the clay gets very hard when baked? I need handles that are somewhat soft, so if this bakes out very hard, then it may not work for me. It would still be a great gift idea, though!

Hello! The clay does get hard when it bakes... enough so that I can drop the hook, and it will not smash or get damaged. Might have to try one and see how it works for you. Before baking, some people mold it into a more ergonomic shape (some build up the clay, some put their finger marks in it, etc.) so that it feels better in the hands.

Can this be put in the oven too like aluminum without any problem?? Please let me know. Again, Thanks so much!!! :)

This is a wonderful idea I just wondered if there was any way to make the hooks even wider? I have fibromyalgia and it's easier to hold bigger items. I'd love to crochet more and I need bigger hooks. Thank you in advance for taking time to read this and respond. They are awsome! XO❤XO💘XO❤XO

Oh yes, you can place as much polymer clay on as you need. The only thing is you will need to bake it several minutes longer (the package will tell the time per thickness). Some people pile on a ton of clay around the hook, then squeeze the clay while it's still soft to form a customized grip around the hook. In the past I've made hooks with polymer clay around them that looks like you poked the hook through something that looks like a lemon for people with arthritis.
