A tip so the lye is not so hot. Use half water and half ice cubes. It will help cool it down faster and it helps with fumes

I was just looking to see if you had a new video! Been waiting all week. I know it’s not soap related, but I made your moisturizer with the lavender and Frankincense combo, I love that smell! Thank you so much. I’ve made the moisturizer, dish soap with lemon, and laundry detergent with tea tree! I’m so excited to have a chemical free home.

Hi, thank you for another cool video :) I was trying one of your recipe a few months ago. Everything went well but when i used papers that show pH in the soap it was too high. So I was a bit confused cause i made this pH test three weeks after I made the soap. So i was looking in the internet what is the problem. Its (propably) nothing wrong with you recipe. It can be problem that lye didn't properly combined with the oils or too much drops of esentials oils or temperature of before mixing.. whatever.. I'm just trying to say (after my few experiences and lot of research) that very very important to do this pH test always before using any homemade soap based on lye. Thank you for all your hard work to teach us so many diy products :)

Can you make chamomile tea and use that instead of the water so there is more fragrance than just the essential oil?

Always love your videos! I used the cold process soap bar 3 weeks later. I think the lye in soap cause a skin problem. What do I do? Is it safe after 6 weeks, or is covering the cooling racks in the garage with the soap bars on it and a box lid on top, interfering with the process? Also, is it safe to use the same stick blender we use for making cold process soap, as we use for making the hand / body lotion? Thanks!

Question. Do you know which brands of glycerin melt and pour soap base is the least chemical closest to organic. Lots of the products on your older videos are not available now. Trying to be healthier. I know i want to do melt and pour base.

I appreciate your knowledge very much and look forward to trying this!! The plain white bars are speaking to my soul; there's something so beautiful and simple about them. I'm curious, though... If lye is caustic, is possible it's not safe for our skin? I understand all soaps are made with lye, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's safe for our skin cells. Can you substitute lye for a truly "natural" soap, like using yucca or other soap-root plants? I feel like my sensitive skin and higher-Self is guiding me away from lye, due to its caustic properties and not being naturally occurring in Nature. I'm a new viewer and am so glad I found your channel!! Thank you for being here, beautiful soul!!

Thank you!! It's totally safe once mixed with the oils and fully cured. I am so Glad you enjoyed the video!!

Hi there! Sodium hydroxide (lye) is a natural compound found in ash, and when combined with an oil it produces glycerin and the saponified oil of the oil used, meaning that the sodium hydroxide molecules are no longer present in the bar. This is the only way that true soap can be made and probably the best one for the skin. Some soapmakers also add sodium lactate to their soaps, a natural salt of lactic acid (which is found in milk), to produce a harder and more moisturising bar of soap. To conclude, yes lye is caustic and quite dangerous, but when mixed with oils and when the saponification process is complete it is no longer present in the soap and it is completely safe for the skin!

After the soap hardens, do you still have to be mindful of the lye getting into your eyes?
@ouroilyhouse
@ouroilyhouse 2 жыл бұрын
All soap is made with lye so just like you avoid getting any soap in your eyes, this is the same.

I like making stuff, but if it takes more than 24 hours, not gonna do it. When it comes to food or stuff. Like I made fruit wine, but only the first batch was good. I have made deodorant, Lotion, and toothpaste and next on the list is your sunblock recipe.
