I have listened to some of your KZfaqs these few days and I hope I will be inspired to start a regular Practice. I have tried and failed many times. I am very inspired by your practical and Metta like Guidlines to meditate. It was like a fresh light breeze to hear your Guidlines and advice. Thank you Oliver. I hope I will be able to get back to you, with a consistent practice of 2 weeks.

That’s great Henrietta! Yes it can take some time to establish a consistent practice. Try committing to something doable for you and remind yourself why you are doing it and the most important thing of all, find a way to enjoy if. 🙏

Hi Olivier, Wonderful to have your videos back, to see you and hear your voice. I use a number of your tips. I have a regular time of day with an alarm on my phone. It's immediately before I workout which I deeply enjoy so there is a positive association for me between meditation and working out. I also have a dedicated space and when I enter it I start to shift into a quieter mode. A technique I use with a lot of success is reminding myself 'This is time just for you! No one to interrupt, nothing you have to do, you can rest." I do struggle with completing the 30 min silent meditation I set on my Plum Village app but remind myself to notice the strong desire to stop early and see if I can observe it rather than encourage it. The desire to stop s because my mind wanders so much even after years of meditating. Even though I start out speaking to myself kindly when my mind wanders, at times I become frustrated. "Wandering again!"

Yes! I have a renewed energy to post and share again. But really, the fuel is just you and all those who leave comments about how they find those tips helpful in their practice. Like our dear teacher says: we inter-are. Thanks for sharing those tips, next year when i redo this video, i will include them! I remember too at first how my mind wouldn't want to meditate for long and Id be watching the clock. And how that taught me about learning to be with restlessness. Thank you for stopping by Jan!

Your voice is calm and that is encouraging for me; to sit, quietly, calmly, in the moment. Thank you for your tips, insights on how to establish a beneficial meditation practice.

Hello Janet, nice to "meet" you! Thanks for leaving a comment. I am also so happy to read how my videos impact others. After practicing mindfulness and meditation and seeing how beneficial it was for me, I just had a strong desire to share this so I am so glad to be able to support you in your practice. How long have you practiced meditation? What was your journey towards it?

@@PeacefulBreathing Good morning Olivier. I'm very new to practicing meditation. My journey started when I sought calm despite chaos around me. KZfaq videos on meditation were generally intimidating and thwarted efforts on my part to continue with a meditation practice. Yet, I knew in my heart that this practice of calming and centering through meditation was the correct path for me. Then, I did yoga online with Olena at AkarmaLife Studios in Ampthill. Olena's focus and energy changed everything for me! It was through Olena that I came to follow your KZfaq videos on best practices for meditating. I'm most excited about using your tips on starting with small steps, timing, and how to start each day with a smile. My days are now filled with many moments of inner peace, and that translates into the best day, every day.

So happy to read this. I too have started through yoga actually. Yoga is a great great practice. And I am so glad this is helping you to experience those many moments of peace. It is our birth right but yet, no so many people know about those practices. This changed my life as I was seeking a deeper sense of happiness. Well, I am very happy you found my channel. I look forward to exchange more!

I like the first tip of meditating less. I have often set the bar very high, and would often be stressed about the long sits. Now I have been trying to meditate less but more frequently.

Hi Keeaaah, yes, that is how I was at first too. We have the habit of pushing ourselves too much sometimes. I would too feel daunted to start a long meditation. But at the beginning and even now, the most important thing is to make it easy to get into the habit and enjoy it. Or else it becomes a chore and we don't want that! Glad this helped. Let me know if you'd like me to cover a particular topic. How long have you been meditating and what brought you to meditation?

@@PeacefulBreathing Thank you Oliver for your great videos. Your calmess eminates through them. I was first introduced to meditation through interest in quieting my mind. I found a KZfaq video, and started to practice anapana for 20 minutes each night. This benefited me greatly. From there I learned about the 10 day vipassana retreats by S.N Goenka. I have both sat and served a number of courses since. Although I have many hours of sitting practice, I still struggle with finding my balance in sitting. But now I am being patient and aiming to practice every day, even if it is only for a short duration. I love to practice metta also if I am in the right mind state. Maybe metta would be a good video to cover (if you don't already have a video on it)

@@MaxandSofia So you are a seasoned practitioner! What do you mean by finding your balance? In terms of effort or in your body? Yes metta is definitively something I want to start sharing more about but looking at what I have planned, it looks like it's gonna have to be for next year :)

Hello, I wana to thank you for your time and focus to bring meditation closer to many people that don't understand. This morning I meditated in bed after waking up and in one moment I felt some like energy feelings from bottom of my belly like energy rush. My heart started beating fast and I got panic attack didn't know how to deal with feeling. Any thoughts on what can cause such energetic feeling and how to deal with it without fear. Thank you so much. 🙏🙏🙏

How are you feeling now? You can practice with emotions like we practice with thoughts. Emotions come and go just like the clouds in the sky. You are not a cloud but the sky. Thoughts, emotions come and go and the practice is to observe them without clinging onto them or pushing them away. If things feel scary, open your eyes, take a few deep breaths and realize you are here and you are safe. You say to yourself: “I am safe, I am safe”. Hope this makes sense. Let me know how your practice goes.

@@PeacefulBreathing Thank you for your reply ❤ I feel fine, even after the panic I felt somehow happy and relieved, somewhat clearer. It wasn't scary though but just some like sensation that felt good but I got scared what is happening and panicked. Hopefully next time will handle it with different approach. 🙏

@@steljko4625 Often, we are too busy with our life to pay attention to what is going on within us. When we sit for meditation, our emotions get a chance to resurface so we can process them and let them go. Feel free to reach out anytime, I am always happy to help where I can.

@@PeacefulBreathing It is true that we re busy paying bills that we forget completely about ourselves. I forgot on me till all that craziness woke anxiety and panic attack and I pulled the brake. Good thing that from all that mess and pain I started looking into myself and spiritual side and doing some research started to do meditation. Thankfully to you and people like you who re willing to help and guide. ❤🙏

I know, I have been there. Anxiety, panic attacks, depression … but this path of awakening to what is possible within us is the most rewarding journey because not only we can live more happily, but the people around us benefit from our practice. Thanks for your comments, they mean a lot to me.
