lastgreatroadtrip.com/off-road-adventure-accessories/wheels-rig/ When a off road rig airs down real low certain physics take over causing a tire to loose its grip on the wheel often resulting in the tire falling right off the rim. Learn how to install beadlock wheels to over come this problem... Read the whole story lastgreatroadtrip.com/off-road-adventure-accessories/wheels-rig/

Thank you... Glad it helped. We have not had any issues from the police... other than compliments on the rig. We have also looked up the WA State Regulations and no where does it speak about bead lock wheels. There are so many bead LOOK wheels out there it would be hard to tell true from faux bead locks.

I wouldn't say I like the emergency room, but it's alright. Do I still keep my fingers out of the bead while inflating?
@lastgreatroadtrip
@lastgreatroadtrip 13 жыл бұрын
@Pawandeep211 good question. Most of the time when you loose a bead it occurs on the outside so most bead lock wheels only lock down the outside. There are some bead lock wheels that do have lock rings on both the inside and the outside to hold both tire beads.

@EstebanCRC for the street you can get "bead look" or "mock bead lock" wheels... less money if you're not going to go off road (and air way down). They give you the look.

That is kind of a loaded question. width is a bit variable as an aggressive tread can add width that can cause some rub on the upper control arm depending on tire. In the rear most folks do a body mount chop to prevent larger tires rubbing there. Head over to fjcuiser forum and do a search. Lots of discussion threads on tire fitment. As for why our tires stick out. We run a long travel kit which pushes out the wheel hubs 2" on each side and we've added 3/4" of backspace to our wheels.
@lastgreatroadtrip

that is about right... but always check the manufacture's tire spec since each tire brand / model can vary

Can anyone tell me the minimum gap there should be between the ring and the wheel?(ie without the tyre) It's been suggested that it should be no more than about 15mm? so you get about 3mm crush with the usual bead thickness of approx 18mm.

@idontrunntoofast They look good, served us well and have taken a beating... The Rubicon and Baja 1000 couldn't destroy them and they let us air down to about 8 psi when the "road" got gnarly. If you need them, bead lock wheels are hard to beat.... And they do add to the cool factor :-)

Hard to say but pull it all apart and inspect the tire bead, rim and ring looking for any defects or debris in the way. if all is good. Start over making sure the tire bead is seated correctly on the wheel and torque it all down again... Sounds like you did a good job on the others so if it still leaks contact the manufacturer.

Hey do you find any balancing issues with beadlocks or the balancing beads? i have a set of 35's with 8oz counteract balancing beads and still have steering wheel shake previously i was running dynabeads and thought a different set of beads would help and unfortunately they didn't ive talked to many local 4x4 shops in my area and they say welcome to the "beadlock life" but is this true or could this issue be coming from a different component? just curious to how your tires and wheels are acting? great video by the way.
@lastgreatroadtrip
@lastgreatroadtrip 7 жыл бұрын
Kieran we've not had any problems. But we're only running 34's. different tire brands have different tolerances and can require significantly more counter weight (or beads). Also the wheels or the beadlock ring may be a little off. If you want to know if your tire/wheels are causing the shake take them to a tire shop and have shop put them on their computerized balancer to see if they are the problem. Good luck.
@ProJazzy
@ProJazzy 7 жыл бұрын
Last Great Road Trip okay thanks for the advise. The only problem is that I've gone to tire shops before and they say with the beads they will get a different reading every time on their machine. Any advise about this?
@lastgreatroadtrip
@lastgreatroadtrip 7 жыл бұрын
Kieran you can always go back to balancing weights or try doubling the beads to see if that solves it. I'm assuming your lift is high quality and took care of maintaining the appropriate geometry for your 35"s.
@ProJazzy
@ProJazzy 7 жыл бұрын
Last Great Road Trip okay sounds good thanks for all your knowledge. As for my lift I'm running a 3" lift, running an icon set up with there tubular upper control arms and stock lower control arm. The only way I'd imagine to go further in correcting the front geometry is by getting a long travel setup with an aftermarket LCA?

You are correct on how a beadlock wheel works. The tire's bead is held in place by pressing it against the wheel with the beadlock ring. NOT GIVING LEGAL ADVICE: These particular wheels are not DOT approved. There is a difference between illegal and not approved but I cannot tell you if you can run these legally on streets in your state. I've never found a definitive statement or court case on running beadlock wheels on the street. Many people run beadlocks on the street.

Last Great Road Trip We never lost a bead while off-roading in sand etc. even down to 5 psi in CJ5, CJ7's or souped up Jeep Gladiators. Not sure what the science is, to prevent a bead issue or a tire rotation on the rim or both. Bigger diameter tires do flex more which could be another reason.
