I know that a lot of artists favour using a ‘limited palette’ - ensuring that they mix the majority of their colours themselves.
But as I show you in this little video - where I paint a vibrant Kingfisher bird - that’s not always the best strategy when you are aiming for a realistic looking result.
Instead, to achieve realism, you need to capture ALL the many colours in a subject like this as closely as possible, using vibrant paint colours wherever they’re needed.

that's always been my problem with water colors not allowing colors to dry then go to a different shade,this is some beautiful work

Hi Anna. I love your style and techniques. I do love to join your patron but I am so busy with my life right now. I have 2 questions: 1. Can I cancel the patron membership any time I want? 2. In your videos, do you show what color you pick or mix from your palette each time you need to? It is important for me to see it on your pallete before you put it on the paper. Best wishes.

ok i now have some sennelier paints.. lets see if i have the patience to try your method, usually i go nuts half way through. Adhd manic, lol, it is not on your method. But my own brain that is my own worst enemy when it comes to layering, wich is why i baught the sennelier, caus correcting with other paints can sometimes be an issue. But not with these, these love to layer. my other paints as well but they take more work to prep for that while sennelier does that on its own in some weird way. I love the kingfisher so this birdie will go up. Bt that bird size with a 2 round.. oh boy 😂

Sharon Wilson thank you for your help, it’s a similar thing, only they cannot take the weight of the larger iPads. That’s why I got exited when I saw the one she has.

I enjoy realistic paintings, yours isn't realistic yet. It needs more work. I would loosen up and let the colors merge naturally just like in real life.
