How to Paint Whimsical Love Birds for Beginners | Easy Tutorial to Learn Loose Watercolor Painting

Most of us used to doodle when we were on the phone - perhaps that is less common now that you can speak literally for hours on end whilst doing something else at the same time. But all of us know the pleasure of just playing with a pen or pencil and seeing what happens!
So today's Love Bird painting is going to take doodling to new heights! We will start with a simple outline sketch, which you can download for free here. We then add some loose paint work and then the final touches of ink and glitz.

It’s easy to criticize when your sitting, watching and not doing anything. It takes a lot of talent to talk and teach while doing a tutorial. You do a wonderful job and I love all you do. I always say if you don’t like what you’re watching, change the channel.

Love your whimsy art, especially dragonflies. I wish You could see the 5x7 paintings I did of them based on your teaching. My daughter died suddenly six years ago. She had a dragonfly tattoo on her ankle and whenever her three adult children see one they think of her. Older grandgirl had my paintings framed together… very, very special… thank you for your teaching and sharing your wonderful creatures in your yard.

Diane, this little painting is charming! What a perfect card to give someone for an engagement or anniversary. I love when you share your stories and thoughts. My career was also in education and although I'm retired, I continue to take classes and substitute. A few years back, I took a speech class for professional presentations. Our instructor was excellent and we all learned so much from him. He emphasized to us that it's human nature to use the word "um" and that it's actually okay to use during a professional speech. It makes it more natural and authentic. Keep being you Diane and soak up the love and positive comments from your beloved fans. All 43 K of us! You're my favorite! XO

My pleasure 😊 It was harder at the beginning, is a bit easier now, but you will have noticed most youtube artists record the voice over after they have completed the painting. I prefer it to be more natural!

Diane you are wonderful and I love painting along with you. Since I'm new I do end up not having the correct supplies. I started watercolor painting finding you on KZfaq to relieve stress and anxiety. I lost my sweet daddy last Sept 2021 at home while I was sitting in the living room with my mom. Then less than 5 months later my precious momma passed away on Valentine's Day 2022 suddenly in my arms. I have been so distraught and sad for a while. Acrylic and watercolor painting plus speaking with a counselor has brought me so much happiness again 💗.

Thank you, Diane, for this lovely video. I always learn so much from you. I have had a challenging week and as I sit here at midnight on Sunday night this video brought me such joy and peace. Isn't it funny how even watching parts with the sound muted can bring calm? Your background sounds of the animals took me back to a time in my life that brought back happy memories. Again, thank you for all you do for all of us sitting at the kitchen table on a laptop, on a smart phone waiting in line to pick up children from school, watching on an iPad with a grandchild cuddled on the couch. Please pay no attention to trolls. They are either people who are so wretched they get their yuck on everyone they interact with, or they are pros (likely a bot) that get paid every time someone claps back and nteracts with them. You did the right thing by blocking them. No artist is going to appeal to everyone. There are plenty with varying styles; everyone who wants to watch art vids should be able to find something that suits them. Thank you for taking the time to share your art and experience with us.

Appreciation must be taught and, unfortunately, parents have neglected this area of parenting. They have also, failed to teach kindness and manners. You take the time to share your knowledge and talents, for free! Please do not allow the unkind comments of a few, to dampen your desire to encourage so many of us. They simply do not have the ability to appreciate the beauties of life. I should probably pray for them, but, I am not sure that God gave me that much patience and understanding for that level of ignorence . You have a gentle, sweet soul that many of us relax with. I do so appreciate your thoughtful comments Claudia. You are very correct in saying that people find it challenging these days to be polite and kind. They boast about kindness, and demand kindness and politeness from others, but don't often reciprocate. I pray to God to give me the strength to deal with such people. Diane, just disregard and put aside all the negative comments, they mean nothing, they come from very unhappy individuals having too much time on their hands. You are an inspiration for all of us, we thoroughly enjoy all your tutorials and very much appreciate all the time and efforts you are putting in making our lives more (water)colored!!! I am so happy to have found you. As a recently retired RN I have decided to try watercolour as an activity for this next stage of my life. Initially I felt a little discouraged but I have preserved and with your help I feel quite good about how I am improving. An added bonus in these troubled times you lift me up with your words just to know I am not alone with my thoughts and concerns with where our world is going. The sounds of your harmonious barnyard birds and critters in the background make me smile. God Bless you as I have found you to be a blessing 💕

Oh! Diane (same name as my daughter), I love your voice & your talking. It's the reason I listen 🤗. When people criticize my art (drawing, talking, textile design), I say ok, you do your video and have it be perfect. A friend calls my videos "organic"😄. Your art always inspires me.♥️

Dear Diane, disregard all negative people, as it has been said previously by another persons comment if you don’t like what you are watching change it! You are such an inspiration, I have only recently found you but I find my Art has improved by leaps and bounds, just by watching and listening to you! As you can see, you have many followers who LOVE watching and listening to you! We can’t please everyone but like you, I can’t understand why some people are just plain nasty. If you don’t like what you’re watching, find something else. We love you.

Every time I pull this session up, I get re-irritated again at the old grump that had nothing better in his life than criticize. If he knew how many faithful followers, that take umbrage at someone finding fault with you, he’d rum and hide! You are loved and respected by us. We learn so much from every video. Say “um” all you want! ❤️

Hi Diane, I just want to thank you for your wonderful videos. I'm in Indiana. I'm just now taking an interest in watercolor and drawing and I'm 58. Your teaching this is dog new tricks. Lol I've been a stitcher, quilter and crocheter for many years. For some reason being quarantined has opened my learning want to spirit. I love the sheep and all the animals we hear on your videos. You speak lovely, most charming. I just found you today so I'm power watching. I hope you paint some sheep. Thanks for sharing your gifts with the world. 😘

Very interesting what you say about the quarantine opening your desire to explore other creativity, isn't that wonderful that there is an upside to that terrible pandemic. I love sewing and crochet and knitting too, just don't have enough energy or hours in the day to do as much as I would like! I have no words...I'm sad someone would make hurtful comments and sad for that person who probably has no filters. "If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all...." Now, as to this video, I love it! These birds are not only cute, but I can see all the different methods coming into one very sweet painting. Before I would look at this and say no way, but with your instruction I can certainly imagine doing it. Thank you for your instruction as always.
