The Fox 40 Classic is by far my favorite whistle of choice. I will always use Fox 40 whistles. NO MORE PEA whistles!

Good explanation. I blowed like that also and found it is louder and more perfect.

***** I just bought my first Fox 40 Classic tonight. I wondered how it got its trademark trill that let it sound like it had a pea when none is present. I recorded mine and analyzed the recording with Audacity. The closest I could measure for the three tones was: 3600 Hz, 3750 Hz, and 3850 Hz. These probably aren't quite true to the real whistle, however if you generate three sine wave tracks at these frequencies and play them simultaneously, the result was so close I thought the difference must be small. The intermodulation of the pure tones produces that trademark trill! I hit upon the notion from my understanding of how, on landline phones, the ringback tone is presented to the originating handset when calling another phone. It's just a 440 Hz + 480 Hz tone, and you get another characteristic (40 Hz) trill.

The real actual way is you have to blow it with your tongue sticking in the hole and sticking it put of the hole put air out and after that, blast it once or more of them.

Had one on my keychain for many years in case of an emergency and I didn't know it had three chambers. Now where did I put my head.

fox40world At what distance are the whistles tested from to make the labels of the sound power?
@fox40world6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your inquiry! We have our whistles tested by a third party company using professional sound meters. Generally these machines test within a few feet, but are accurate within fractions of a dB.

That didn't sound very loud. The pkg says it can be heard for miles.

It’s called auto gain. Louder it is the lower gain is set to more balance volume to avoid earrape. I’m telling you now even the mini is loud enough to cause quite strong discomfort of pain even just as the blower.
