Thank you, YOU ARE MY HERO. I needed my engine to run at least for an hour to charge my battery in the back as due to -20C and few weeks without using a car the battery was dead and I had to force my engine to run.

What is the purpose for putting the car on maintenance mode?

To start the engine. If it is in hybrid mode it will shut down automatically. So keep the engine running for testing you can put it on maintenance mode and it won't affect the hybrid system.
