These are great tips. I don't own an RV, but I can see what's needed as shown. My only suggestions. Wear old clothes, eye protection and gloves. Brake Kleenex is hazardous to your health and can get absorbed into the skin. Don't know about chalk, but to prevent future problems, use gloves and eye protection. Long sleeve shirts or coveralls work great.

Great job Shannon. Extra tips - that stuff sticks to EVERYTHING so wear old clothes, and for those of us clumsier folks, long sleeves as peeling it out of your arm hair is less than fun. As you said, the key is the prep work. Dicor is the only thing for RV roofs - anything silicon based will not stick to the rubber (or Dicor) and once you put that down nothing sticks to it, so you're really in a bad spot. At minimum this is a yearly job. Dicor also makes a roof tape if you have to fix minor tears or holes in the roof. I swear RV's are made to such low quality standards (I once owned a Forest River that they cut the factory doors too large and just filled them with caulk, which caused a rip and replace of the full floor)... but if you enjoy the RV life this is what you're getting in to.

Heck yes! Shannon is the best! Even know I done all my seams with fiberglass to close in permanently. This video definitely is a cost saver for RV owners.

I was going to do this next weekend, except I was going to scrape the old caulk off with a plastic puddy knife and clean it up. I was also going to use eternabond in most areas. The blobs of caulking on these campers almost take up the whole roof.

So do you just keep building up that berm of a seal constantly or does it reach a point where you gotta use a chisel get rid of the berm and start over fresh? RVs are such an enigma for me. Buddy of mine has a "garage condo" where he stores his RV. It keeps it sheltered and relatively climate-controlled when he's back home. He takes it south every winter for 6-8 weeks, and oftentimes in the summer too. I wish I had his means, that is the way to go. Who needs hotels when you got your own living space on wheels.

Depends on your roof design , but if it's a fairly flat roof normally you may have to over time or situate the camper slightly out of level. While in storage I intentionally leave mine out of leave so roof drains off for sure. During a trip I normally dont worry too much but if we get a rainy patch for a few days I will keep an eye on it to bee sure its not pooling on the roof.

Shannon, do you think that would work on leaky gutters. My corners of my gutters are dripping and I've tried many things and just cannot get them to stop leaking. Thank you in advance. Your videos are Great! Very informative and easy to understand.

Dreading doing mine...have to reseal all the vents with butl tape...thinking about doing to roof with a tar type sealant

If its a rubber roof like this was I would not use tar.

Shannon what are your thoughts on the eternabond tape to seal the edges ?

It may work ok in other areas besides the edge of the roof ,but I would not trust it on the edges for sure. I have never used it.

Good morning Shannon After the brake cleaner and before the sealer, do you need to wash the area with soap and water or will the sealer attach itself to the brake cleaner residue?

Brake cleaner evaporates quickly. I dont wash before sealing at all. The brake cleaner is the cleaner.

What’s the length of your rig and how many tubes of self leveling and non-self leveling did it take to do it all?

This is 29' and I used 3 self levelling and part of a non levelling

They build those rvs terribly. I've owned several, they certainly could design them with better drip edges etc. Many corners rely only on the caulking to keep water out and they are all bound to fail. You nailed it Shannon, if you own one you should be checking this every year. Rv industry should be ashamed of build quality however.
