Carburetors in two stroke engines need to be rebuilt once a year to ensure the motor runs as good as it can. In this episode we rebuild a Walbro WB 37 carb which is used on most Polini 190s and Moster 185s.
Here is a link to a modification that helps with mid range acceleration to keep it smooth:

You’d be right if I had something to gain, but I don’t. I just appreciate when people take the time to teach and help other people in our sport. I also like to drop a friendly “thanks” whenever I can.

2 misses....(1) check the metering lever. (2) your there at the bench, take out the metering screws and clean the high and low jets. ( make sure you pull out the O-ring so you don't get carburetor fluid all over and cause it to expand) ;) Honorable mention : the new (tan) gasket can be used if you're flying with ethanol based gasoline. Also a #2 pencil seats the screen nicely....

Yo Vin!!! Im going to purchase a pop off pressure gauge,we need one of those too if you really want to do the proper job :)

@@577buttfan true, years ago there was a defect in a couple of the WB37's with the pop off pressure. I just said it because when I put the new pieces in the other day I noticed that the metering valve was really low especially for a brand new piece, also do you want to leave off the flapper valve or not? Mine didn't have one in their originally so I guess the planned for that, or maybe that's what the C is for in 37C ( C, we removed the flapper valve) ;)

Not sure brother I only played with the WG8.I want to try a 37 but I would have to drill a hole in the reed valve assembly and add a vacuum nipple as the WG8 get its vacuum from a small port in the reed valve then straight into a port on the WG8.@@wiley0714

It's not as fun as flying but if a guy wants to keep flying, maintenance needs to be done!! Carb rebuilds are not hard and every pilot should be able to this by him/her self. Hope this helps!

Did you forget to install the diaphragm check valve? Item nr 22 on this listing is missing on your carb: southwestairsports.com/ppgtechinfo/wb37/wb37.htm

hi i have a moster 185.the carb is a 37c.with my carb it has on the metre side.mine has on the inner half moon.the flapper then under that the gasket. so would you recommend me taking off minus the flapper gasket?taking that off.how will it effect the running? better or worse??
@SagaSeaCraft
@SagaSeaCraft 3 жыл бұрын
Good question. The flapper gasket is an air-intrusion check valve so that at low throttle settings, air is not sucked back down the high-speed jet tube (the brass tube that is sticking up through the venturi) and into the fuel reservoir below the metal plate (if your carb is mounted so that it has the metering diaphragm on the bottom), possibly messing up the low-speed circuit. At least that is my theory. I have not tried not using the flapper. I suppose on some machines it works well, otherwise they wouldn't leave it out. Perhaps if the fuel tank is at such a low level compared to the height of the carb (vertical height difference) then the fuel pump would likely be having low fuel pressure issues, and leaving the flapper out could help reduce fuel-flow drag when fuel demand is high. I'm just guessing, though.

Can you explain the pop rivet portion, or link to somewhere that does?
@wiley0714
@wiley0714 5 жыл бұрын
? You mean the small silver blocked ports? You can actually pop off those plugs and clean out all the underlying ports in the carb. Rebuild kits to come with new plugs kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gMpnfs121JycaJ8.html

@@wiley0714 No, I meant fitting the empty pop rivet over the end of the cable. Not sure, looked like it was associated with the cable stop/fastener.

I've gotta Walbro WB29A M5 on my DK Beat/Whisper - - - The Engine izzan obsolete DK472, Walbro can't even find their own carb.!.

HMM, IF THE ENGINE IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY. THEN THE CARB WILL NEED TO BE CHECKED OUT..THE FITTING OF THE GASKETS DEPENDING ON THE PILOTS SKILL? NEED TO BE PUT BACK IN SEQUENCE ORDER.!! AFTER YOUVE REBUILT THE CARB THEN TEST IT OUT... 20MINS TESTFLIGHT. TAKE OFF THEN LAND.UNSCREW THE SPARK PLUG. AND LOOK AT THE COLOR OF SPARK PLUG . THIS WILL LET YOU KNOW HOW THE ENGINE IS RUNNING..?? EITHER TOO HOT OR TOO COLD. ALL THE FUEL CONNECTIONS NEED TO BE TIGHT. AND NOT LETTING IN AIR. OR LEAKING FUEL .. AND RECHECKED? I USE TO RACE MX .REBUILD MX RACE ENGINES. SO I KNOW... WITH ALL THE AIR HOURS I HAVE.... I MAKE MISTAKES. LIVE AND LEARN. I MAKE MORE MISTAKES IF I DONT FLY WITHIN A WEEK OR SO. PRACTICE MAKES BETTER FAR BETTER........

I do generally enjoy your videos Sir, but unfortunately this is below par for a how too video and a big fail. No metering lever height check with the Walbro tool? This is an essential check and adjustment if needed. It didn't show you blowing through the ports with the carb cleaner to remove any crap, just a liberal spray all over and wipe away with an already dirty rag. No mention of a pop off pressure test. There are way better videos on here about cleaning/servicing a WB-37. One that comes to mind is one produced by on the the guys at Black Hawk Paramotors. People would follow this and think that they have done a great job at servicing their carb, I'm sorry to have to say.

@wiley0714
@wiley0714 5 жыл бұрын
The Blackhawk one is probably honestly the best one I've seen to date. ( another thing is just making sure that you put the gaskets on the correct way since on one side of the carb the gasket goes to the outside, and the other side the gasket goes to the inside (diaphram side) As far as modifications remember there's a difference between the WB 37 and the WB 37c

Yeah bro,there is a ton too know about these carbs,alot more than most people think,you can get away with just changing the diaphragms and cleaning for only so long before other issues will come up lol :)@@wiley0714
