I mispoke in the video . This is not a sealed transmission. Had my facts mixed up its the filter that is not serviceable but the fluid can be drained and refilled .

thank you sir! you helped immensely with my stuck cv!. 14:34 to 17:00ish removing the bracket itself was key. then pb blaster and a mallet and stone chisel to separate the bracket and the old axle. not a fun job on a car in salty snowy east coast state.

Nice work. Compared to many other gearhead videos yours is high quality. Camera work showing bolts was impressive. If you can, try editing software that will allow you to draw in arrows to "point" at what you are talking about. Very good job with your video Sir, thank you.

Used your video to replace my gf's Quest passenger cv axle (torn boot). Great video and step by step instruction. Living in CA I was able to remove the CV axle without removing the bracket. Nevertheless, and great how to. 3 hr job for me as I move pretty slow and deliberate with new projects. Thanks!!!! Also had to use a piece of pipe with the breaker bar to break the axle nut loose. Correctly torqued it upon reassemble.

Great video. You showed great temperament in not get frustrated when it didn't come out. I'm having the same issue with my 2010 Nissan Maxima but I've only located 2 of the bracket bolts that's mounted to the engine. Plus it's very cold now so working outside is very hard. Where online can I find a 3 feet extension and your swivel head? By any chance, do you know how many bolts hold that cv axle bracket that's mounted on my 2010 Nissan Maxima? I think with patience I can find it. Watching your video has given me the confidence that I can complete my car project this week. Thank you.

It looks like there are atleast 5 bolts going through yours and possibly an altetnator or pwr steering pump sitting on it. Here is a link below so you can get a better image of the bracket , and a link for the extenison. @@s33therfan Thanks but there's no way I'm going to take that bracket out when you said another part sits on it. I might have to heat up the bracket to separate the cv axle from it or take it to a repair shop. If you have any suggestions to separate without removing please let me know, thanks.

I would recommend one of these tools , but other than spray lubricant and trying to hammer it out , I can't think of another method. This slide tool gives a lot of force with the hammer action. amzn.to/3JAjQfw

Thanks for the Video. I will be doing this project soon on my 2008 Nissan Quest same passenger side. I see that you did not remove the tie rod end and underarm control ball from steering knuckle. I see some of the videos removing them, I am not worried about underarm but wondering on tie rod as the steering knuckle with bearing hug may put some weight on & may cause any damage to it. Appreciate it!

Impossible for 7th gen Maxima. I have a 14' Maxima. I've lossen all the bolts (4 total) holding the housing and it can not be remove because of the tight spacing. The only thing left to try is a slide hammer.

Would this cause the van to not drive forward or reverse when put in gear if the part is broken?
@s33therfan
@s33therfan 4 жыл бұрын
If its separated or severed it could. You could observe this by looking safely on either the passenger or drivers to see if its spinning freely . This applys all the output to the broken axle . It could also be an issue with the transmission as well . If the axles are fine I would start by checking the level of trans fluid . Hope this helps out and thank you for watching.

Can u just replace the boot w/o replacing the entire axle?
@s33therfan
@s33therfan 4 жыл бұрын
You can just replace the boots. When I have priced the boots they usually were not a lot cheaper than the entire cv axle , that is one of the draw backs. The other in this case was the cv axle itself was in bad condition . Bad to the point of causing vibrations. So in summary if its just cracked and the cv axle is fine then replacing the boot may be a good option. Usually they come with new axle grease etc. Great question and thank you for watching

I must not be reading the manual correctly. 2006 Service Manual - FAX (front axle) have 125 ft-lb of torque on 32mm Axle nut.
@vk17171
@vk17171 3 жыл бұрын
Its Newton-meter. N-m(kg-m, ft-lb) = 125(13,, 92). 92 ft-lb is correct.

I did not. Having an alignment is always best after working on or replacing front end parts. There was no uneven tire wear or issues in my case .
