How To Repair Your Relationship After Someone Cheats- Relationship Advice. How do you repair your relationship after someone cheats? Rebuilding trust (and your life together ) is a concerted effort for which both partners must be truly committed. If you've chosen to stay, then choose to move on. Here is how to rebuild after cheating.
Cheryl writes, “My husband had an affair for 7 months- we’ve reconciled and we’re in therapy. However, I can’t stop thinking of the things “they” did. I ask questions and he’s honest and it’s a knife to the heart each time, yet my curiosity keeps me asking more. I suppose it’s because I can’t believe it happened. But I would really like to get their relationship out of my head. How do I go about doing this?”
The choice as to how to handle infidelity will be different for each one of us. For some individuals, it is a hard pass. There's no vacillation. They're out.
For others, they waiver between wanting to forgive and move on, and reprimanding themselves for being foolish enough to stay. This is an internal battle that each partner fights with themselves, as well as the voices around them giving guidance.
Getting beyond betrayal and rebuilding the trust in a relationship after cheating requires work on both sides. This video discusses how to heal a relationship after cheating, rebuilding the trust after infidelity, and surviving marriage after infidelity.
The level of difficulty that's involved in this choice is often determined by other factors; breaking up with someone you're just casually dating is easier than breaking up with someone that you've been living with. And ending a marriage while accepting the collateral damage that will be down to your family is the hardest of all.
So as you listen to this video, I would just ask you not to judge the subscriber that sent in their request. One voice speaks for thousands. And if this is your choice, here are the tools that will help you.

@@SusanWinter Women never try to understand why men cheat am not supporting cheating but many men cheat because lack of sex and their wife isn't submissive to their husband they don't have the respect of husband and their wives don't obey them. Women of past generation were have PhD in marital life and they were proud to be a submissive wives and they say my husband is my boss and leader of my children and me but now it is became a controversial thing.

I don't recommend taking another chance on a relationship where infidelity had occurred. Why? FULL trust and confidence is forever lost - regardless of remorse, tears cried, promises made, therapy sessions attended, and time elapsed since the event. In respect to Susan's advice, I agree and support what she says. But deep down, wouldn't you really rather be with someone who never committed such a serious offense? Do you really believe your heart will ever be truly comfortable again?

On a personal level, I agree with you. I would be absolutely out no questions asked. However, marriage does change things. As do children, a mortgage, and maybe the fact that she's a young mom with little ones to take care of and not able to work outside of the house. There's a lot of factors we don't understand.

@@drylakesI know. And believe me, I appreciate a balanced discussion. The difficulty in answering these individual questions as that they come with very little information as to the backstory and again they are only one sided. I try my best to answer in a way that could be relatable to anyone going through a similar issue. if I were single and dating, I would definitely leave. But being married offers additional complications. I don’t think you ever forget. You might try to forgive and move on, but I don’t think the individuals I know and have worked with have ever fully and completely erased the pain of betrayal. There’s always less available for the attending party.

All my life I said I'd leave at the first sign of cheating. Boy does your perspective change when someone you deeply love cheats. Yes leaving is the right thing, but doing it is the hardest thing I've ever had to live through . I don't judge Cheryl. But I'm sure in time she will realise that relationship won't work anymore.

Every situation, as unfair as it can be, could have their exceptions but leaving is never easy if you’re still in love with the person

And that is perfectly fine. For you, that would not be the right move. As for myself as well. But we have to understand that for some individuals they do want to stay in the relationship for many reasons beyond the partnership.

Hey, those are also good options!!😂 the decision as to what to do is so independent to each person situation. Do you remember the scene in the movie movie How Stella Got Her Groove Back? She took all his beautiful designer clothes, put them in the center of the front lawn and set them on fire. Now that’s a powerful statement.

@@SusanWinter in dating scenarios, I think so many men (maybe women too) refuse to name titles and give commitment so they can't be labeled a bad guy/cheater if they get caught. Like they have an out... 'we were just dating, you cool?' I'll be clarifying terms and conditions early if I ever decide to date again and won't allow myself to stay hidden. I'll be Watching the movie you referenced!

@@Powerskaty correct. By not giving the relationship a label and the honor it deserves, the person abdicates all responsibility for the emotional fallout they cause.
