Still driving my 97 explorer, with the help of your videos I was able to change my blower fan, drivers side mirror and front drivers side bearings and later I asked a friend who is a mechanic to check the bearing replacement I did just so it was done right and it was, so thank you for the info your providing, wish I saw your videos sooner, it sat for about 6 months because of the bearings. Now we’re back in the road.

2000 Ford Explorer. I have never worked on a car myself before. Followed this step-by-step. Excellent instructions and videography showing where all the bolts are and the type of wrench needed. My air would only blow on 4, and after following these instructions, it blows on 1, 2, 3, and 4 again! Really great. Thank you so much.

1A Auto has some of the most well conceived videos out there. One difference I found with my own car, a 2000 Mercury Mountaineer, is that it has the automatic climate control system, which requires part no. TRQ HCA40098, not the one with the three coils on the back. So, check on whether you have an "automatic" button on the climate control panel. The part goes in the exact same spot as the coil version. The video was spot on with where the 10mm vs. 11mm sockets were required. One ongoing frustration I have with all Ford/GM/Dodge cars is the intermixing of SAE and metric, so the tool list at the front of the video and the voiceover corrections on differences in tool sizes is very helpful and a big time saver. Dielectric grease is always helpful to have as well.

Thank you so much for this video and all the details ❤. My son and I just replaced the blower motor resistor this morning in my 98 Ford Explorer because it would only work on high. Thank goodness for my small hands because I was able to get the 2 connections to pop up under the air filter. My A/C now works again on all settings. Woo-Hoo!

Great video! Much appreciated to find this! An ex mechanic friend of mine told me he thought the resistor was underneath the dashboard of my 1998 Mountaineer. I'm going to go into the garage to see if this is the same as my 98 Mountaineer. My blower motor doesn't even turn on at all, so I hope this is all it is, as the middle heater for the backseat works fine. Thank you again!

I had this happen to my 96 explorer xtt 4.0l. Blower just stopped one day on all functions and speeds, just dead and simply would not work again at all on any function. Checked resistors and fuses, all good. Then I decided to wiggle the wires that go into the blower motor resistor, and it just start working again miraculously. I wonder how long it will work until it goes out again. I also smacked the blower motor a couple of times with a rubber mallet also, after wiggling wires around. I'm not really sure which one made it work again honestly.

If you are having issues with air coming out, your best bet would be to test the connection to the blower motor to see if the resistor is giving the blower motor enough power to operate at the appropriate settings.

If there's no power to the blower motor, you may want to trace the wires from the blower motor back to the fuse box to see if there's a break in the wire or a possible frayed section.

I was wondering could u do a video of the rear blower motor? im not entirely sure whats wrong with mine but when i turn it on i hear a whirring noise but no air flow from neither the top nor bottom vents. I have found no videos or guides on how to do it myself so i was wondering if you would show a video of u getting to the ventilation of the rear vents for the center console.

If the blower is not working, it would not work on the A/C or the heater and would not move any air. If the blower motor runs and you can hear it but does not push out any warm air, it could be either an actuator, door inside the HVAC system or the heater core.

Does the blower actually have to come out to get to the resistor or can you just remove the resistor (albeit with a little interference) with the blower in place?
@1AAuto
@1AAuto 8 жыл бұрын
You could probably get that resistor out without actually removing the blower motor. We removed ours because it makes everything easier to shoot for the video. That said, you may just want to remove everything to make life easier. It's a few more steps, but giving yourself the space to work in makes the job much simpler :) Thanks for checking out our videos! If any of our viewers need to make this repair, we carry the part shown in this video on our website. Here's a link to them. @BoogieBreeze99 It's more than likely the actuator clicking on the blend door. There's a design flaw but if you search online, you can find a procedure to insert a finish nail into the actuator and this will direct the blend door accordingly.

I was told that the blower motor resistor was under the dashboard inside the car on the passenger side but it's actually under the hood wow , this is why I don't think part stores should hire non mechanics to work in the store they're giving people incorrect information and that's a major liability. My heat went out I tapped on the blower motor and it came back on I had to do this several times and then it went off for good because it's not coming back on I wonder if that means it's the blower motor that's bad.
