Bullet Solano I was able to get a distributor, installed it, and the car still wont turn on. Everytime I turn the key it sounds like it's about to start, but doesn't. I thought it was improper installation of the spark plug wires, but I've tried every combination and still nothing. Not sure what could be wrong now.

Check the firing order to get the cables in the right order and check if the two little pieces from the distributor are in the right way, maybe you have to remove the distributor and flipped them around

Bullet Solano alright so we got it going, the mechanic who fixed it basically adjusted the timing belt and that did the trick. We also had to jump the car.

If you replacing the distributor put the new rotor in the same way the old one was, and mark the location of the distributor to get the timing right

You don’t have to replace the distributor, replace distributor cap and rotor

The same way you remove the old one is the same way the new one goes in, match the key to the old one

Did you remove the intake plenum from the car? You have a vacuum leak somewhere, or your idle air control valve is bad, check all the hoses and if you remove the IACV you need to replace the gasket, plus you have a misfire on check the distributor again and check your spark plugs and wires

@@BulletSolano thanks for replying bro. Yes I did take the intake plenum out, cleaned it really good with a new gasket and everything went back in very normally. Also I installed a brand new IACV with a new gasket. Let me mention I do hear a pretty loud air leak around the number 4 fuel injector? I mean fuel injectors don't have air pressure right? Thats weird man.

Probably is the gasket or a crack on vacuum hoses

But how do you adjust the timing with this distributor. Can this particular type of distributor be rotated while using a timing gun? Remember this one has only two bolts and doesn't rotate easily like the other model distributors. Which direction you suppose is to accelerate? Clockwise or counterclockwise?@@BulletSolano

Bring #1 cylinder to top dead center, then remove and reinsntall distributor. To get cylinder on top you can remove spark plug and take a long screwdriver, set it on piston and turn crank with wrench until piston reaches top of travel. Check the idle speed, and adjust it if necessary. Connect the PGM tester to the data link connector (DLC), and follow the tester's prompts in the"SCS" menu (see the Honda PGM Tester Operator's Manual). Start the engine. Hold the engine at 3,000 rpm with no load (A/T in [N] or , M/T in neutral) until the radiator fan comes on, then let it idle. Connect the timing light to the No.1 ignition wire, then point the light toward the pointer (A) on the timing belt cover. Check the ignition timing in no load conditions: headlights, blower fan, rear window defogger, and air conditioner are not operating. Ignition Timing: M/T: 12 °±2 ° BTDC (RED mark (B)) during idling in neutral A/T: 12 °±2 ° BTDC (RED mark (B)) during idling in or [N] If the ignition timing is incorrect, replace the ECM/ PCM. (Ignition timing is not adjustable.) Disconnect the PGM tester.

When the distributor get reinstalled back in the same direction is that suppose to better realigned the timing? And if the ECM needs to be replace wouldn't their be a code that will show it's faulty? Can't the ECM get reset and will this require a scanning tool to tell the ECM?@@BulletSolano

That’s only the steps to do timing adjustments in this type of engine, and if that’s not working yes you have to replace the pcm because it can go bad with out a check engine light

Bullet Solano que tipo de fallas presenta. Tengo el mio y hace una falla aun no meto el scanner, pero le piso muy poco en 1000 a 2000 rpm en 2da el carro es aut y le piso y como que se ahoga, le piso más y ya arranca bien pero un poco lento.

No es el distribuidor por que cuando falla el auto solo da marcha pero no arranca, en tu caso tienes que darle mantenimiento, bujías, filtro, aceite, y limpia el Egr y tambien el intake cambia los cables y la tapa de distributor y el rotor, si ya hiciste eso entonces tienes que checar la compresión de los cilindros

The shaft is disconnect it from the cam, look inside to line up the distributor shaft with the cam, that’s all you need

@@BulletSolano yes brother if the fork is not lined up the distributor will never kiss the engine there will be too much gap...i just don't get it...i just spend 2 hours took the top cover off the timing belt loosing the tensioner bolt pulled off only the top of the timing belt off the cam shaft..took a 14m to turn the top of cam to show up...and still not trurning...i don't know where the rotory under the cap was because I never took the cap of distributor...i also made sure the number one cyclinder was top dead center took out number one spark and I could see cylinder come all the way up it blew the napkin I shoved in the spark plug hole to make sure it was in an upward combustion...
