This was great. The fact you did the replacement through the wheel well was far better than other vids showing to do it from underneath. Also, the tip about the upper bolt with the ground needing some patience was on spot. Did the replacement with no problems all based on this video...thank you!

In the parking lot , at night. It could have been 35 degrees and raining. I was able to let mine roll and pop the clutch, to start mine. I watched your video to see what sockets I needed. just a reminder to people watching, most bolts thread into aluminum and may strip installing so go easy on the torque.

I will find out...my truck has been sitting for two years - I bought the starter 2 months ago - I will try this myself!! Rather than money i don't have to a mechanic who looks at me stupidly and says $60

Thnx for the great video.i just bought a 99 ford ranger a week ago,now appears the starter is gone bad. So,I'm going to try to install a starter today,using your video as reference. I pray this will fix the problem. I'll comment after I install starter n let you know how it went,and how accurate your video was, Thanks again, :-)

Well? 4 months later... did your replacement work out?
@donaldbrown77153 жыл бұрын
@@gbt4880 oh goodness gracious! Man I apologize for not keeping my word.i guess I got distracted n forgot all about telling yall how it went. Well,to make a long story short, the starter went in pretty much like the video,( I cant remember if video mentioned having to splice the wires instead of just putting it on with the screw.but either way, it went onto just fine. Thanks for a great video! Good job fellers. So,to make the story long, I jumped the truck off n drove it to autozone to get my parts,then got home ,took everything off n got nice n greasy b4 noticing the new starter they gave me must have been for the new Ford Spaceshuttle series engine,because man,that thing was like 3x the size. So,I go n try to get the grease off me, but it was honestly 90-95 degrees outside,so i was a little too perturbed to get all under my fingernails n all.so i grab this goliath starter n start marching to autozone. It wasnt that far,but far enough that by the time I got there,all i wanted was my part n to get back home. So i got it. Got started again,n couldnt get one of the screws started to save my life. So finally, i flipped the washer over n it went right in. Tighter it up nicely n it fired right up. So recently I had to replace that top big water hose that goes to radiator. I loosened the screws ,n I guess I was a little anxious because as I was jerking up on the hose ,I broke one of those little nipples that holds like a 1/4 " or so vacuum hose. It goes to a black rectangular piece that has two nipples for two hoses to mount onto,and it has a plug that mounts onto it with a bunch of small wires going to it. The black rectangular plastic thing is about 1.75 inches long,by about an inch high, maybe half inch thick n has two screws that hold it bolted up right there in a prominent visible spot. Does anyone kno what that part is called. Thanks yall.

I may be wrong, but I think the different starters for auto/manual only applied to earlier models.
