thank you! I love these! the fact they don't use motors for the bolt is so smart. I bought one, loved it, then found another one on a door in the garbage, and wouldn't have been able to use it without the reset!

I've had this lock since 2017 and it is awesome. I like the manual part of the lock because it makes the battery last longer and makes the lock behave consistently. I will send this video to the new owner of my house!

Really appreciate this video. I bought a house a few months ago, and the previous owner didn't have the programming code. I looked all over the inside of the cover after unscrewing it, but didn't realize that it was on the back of the outside portion of the lock until this video. I'd racked my brain and figured I'd just need to replace the lock, but this enabled me to reset the programming code and delete all previous codes. I can finally feel safer that nobody else out there has the code for my doors!

have two of these exact locks at my house. They are excellent and heavy duty as described in the video. I also try to recommend them whenever possible for the fifty vacation rentals I help maintain. I had one of mine in storage for a while and it would not respond to any codes. I reset it per the instructions in this video and it now works like a charm! Thanks much!

Thanks again for your reply ! I'm glad I looked into it and now the lock is working perfectly as it should. The guy who installed the lock in close position didn't realize it was wrong. He didn't know pressing the button for locking feature exists and I was never made aware of it until I watched your video. Anyone could open the door by pressing the button for the last couple of years. Perhaps I was lucky it didn't happen.....

Thank you for this step by step. Schlage’s documentation leaves out the part about hitting the “Schlage” button, [then] disconnect the battery. They just say “disconnect the battery; press and hold Schlage button; then reconnect the battery.”

I bought my first one of these today. I am impressed that it is as simple as it can be, and not simpler. By that I mean it does what it does without frills, at the same time it does everything I need. Why run down the battery making the lock extend and retract the bolt? I have to push the buttons, my hand is right there anyway, turn the knob. I'm going to be replacing 6 deadbolts and two locking door knobs with this same model/style, to standardize a small apartment building so people can't accidentally lock themselves out.

Thanks, i had the issue where pressing any button and the slage button would unlock my door. but with this video, and Joel's comment below i was able to fix it by turning the gray plastic piece the other way. i can now lock my door by just pressing the shlage button. but can only open it with one of the 2 codes.

We're in our less than a year. Like moved in 10 months ago. I had this lock fixed immediately as it wasn't working properly. It is ALREADY in need of repair again. I have researched it and there are many others that have the same problems I am having which is the spinning lock that won't engage to open. Maybe they fixed the problem but I find it really annoying that I spent good money for less than a years use.

Robert, thanks for the video. I liked the my Schlage deadbolt for a while, however, it now works opposite to how it is supposed to. from the outside, it requires me to enter the code to lock it and it unlocks just by pressing the Schlage button. Any suggestions? I'm going to start by doing a factory reset as you've shown above. Hopefully it works.

Yes. It was installed wrong. Get the installation instructions off of our website. In step 7 you'll see that there is a cam inside the lock that is suppose to go a specific way. Yours is upside down. www.acmelocksmith.com/blog/how-to-factory-reset-schlage-smart-locks/#reset-be365

Thanks for the video. Currently troubleshooting with customer support to address an issue where the bolt will not engage after entering a code to unlock or pressing the Schlage button to lock. The knob just spins and spins. Any suggestions?

Not sure if you will get this very quickly however I have gone through this process at least 12 times on my BE365 and it does not remember my program code or the default user codes so that I can reopen it. It keeps wanting four numbers but the programming code is 6

Can’t get the right hand long bolt back in. It is stuck on that plastic tab. Tried turning the lock but lights are blue now. Any thoughts on how I can rotate that tab out of the way?

I have this lock, been working great for 8 years & suddenly it isn't working. I've tried everything you instruct (I also replaced the battery) with no luck. the green Schlage light just flickers after I try entering the factory codes. It won't open or close.

Yep. Just take the lock to your local locksmith. They'll make a key for it.

Hey, im extremely interested in becoming a locksmith. I would love to work out of a van. But, i have no idea where to start. I have 0 experience. Whats my first step? And in 20k good enough to start?

The first step is training. There are training classes, we even teach some (pre-Covid) that will allow you to get your feet wet, but to really be able to make a go of it, you'd want to apprentice someplace for at least a year (IMO) so you can handle all the common stuff you see. I have this lock. It has started to not respond to my code input so I think the batteries must be low. How long should the battery go before needing replaced and are there specific signs to indicate this is indeed the problem. Thank you

Not proactively. When the batteries are low, when you enter a valid code the lock will emit a beep and schlage button will turn red for a moment.

I've gone through the reset and programming process several times. The lights and beeps respond as expected, but the lock does not function. There is no longer the audible click that allows the knob on the outside to engage. The green Schlage light just flashes and does nothing.

Hi Robert, I purchased a lock like this one at Lowes. I had it professionally installed. It has stopped working. The lights are working, but the lock will not lock my door by key or code. Please help. Can I reset the lock to fix this issue? I have to lock it from the inside and leave and enter through the garage. Thank you, Debbie

i'm having a weird issue. i can't reset the code. when i enter the 6 digit code it only lets me enter 4 digits then it starts beeping. i cannot enter the last 2 numbers regardless of what i do

we purchased one a year ago--works great. Purchased a second one--worked three times and then would not engage the cylinder to either lock or unlock. replaced it. next deadbolt worked great for 2 weeks --then quit--would not engage cylinder. a week later, worked great again for 2 months---today, nether lock would work. their Support keeps saying to reset----but how could the programming effect the lock one day and not the next ?? Once I thought a button was stuck in--this I could see being a problem. I asked Support if any issues like this and all they say is to reset it--there has to be something else ?? you should be able to at least lock the door whether you have right code or not as code not required to lock.

That is odd behavior! The electronics are warranted for 3 years. Have them send you a new one.

I’ve had mine for two years and replace the battery yearly. However this week when I enter a code the lock just spins around and blinks green. Eventually it works and for a few days the problem goes away. Now it’s back. Any thoughts are appreciated.

If it's flashing green it's taking the code. I would try their customer support. If it's only 2 years old, I believe it's still under warranty.

@@LocksmithRecommended I did that and they are sending a new one. However, I decided to take apart the deadbolt and the grey lever over the spring to the right was low. I took it off and put it higher. Now it works perfectly.

It's possible the lock is bad/failed. They have a 3-year electrical warranty. So contact their customer support.

Hello, I have this lock but it's not working properly unbeknown to us by mistake. After resetting, I get the same result. The malfunction is after you lock the door with code and after the deadbolt slides into jamb, you can actually open the lock by just pressing the Schlage button, I cannot figure out why this is happening, Steve.

If resetting doesn't work, I would call Schlage customer support. There's a 3 year warranty on this lock.

I followed your instructions about proper installation. However the schlag button press it still unlocks deadbolt. Would resetting to factory default solve my problem?

Possibility. But if the issue were the reversed cam, it should have corrected it.

What if the previous owner removed the sticker inside the lock and I don't know the factory settings. How can I reset the lock so i can change to codes?

@@LocksmithRecommended Oh i see now. On this lock, the sticker is behind the front end. The other ones show in the back half with the battery. I am able to remove the back part of the lock but dont see how to remove the front part with the keypad. How do I do that?

I have three of these and two of them are now doing the same thing: when I press the schlage button to lock the door the whole keypad lights up blue. The only way I can lock the door is by entering an unlock code. What happened? Is this fixable?

I've had this digital deadbolt for many years. Used on 2 different houses and been through all types of weather. The battery life on this is surprisingly long lasting. A brand new alkaline duracell 9V can last me years before needing to change it. I'm wondering if this lock is easily picked or bumped? I bought this years ago and wondering if it is still up to par as securing my main front door? Or, should I be looking at something else? Call me a little old school but I like the manual deadbolt feel for assurance and peace of mind. Plus, I think having a motor engage the deadbolt over and over again drains more battery life and the strike plate needs to line up pretty good or risk needing to do modifications to make it work.

Schlage makes one of the better out of the box for bump and picking but its susceptible. You want to go with the Schlage encode or Yale CBA and drop a high security cylinder in it. Or do that with a Schlage 560p standard deadbolt.

i can't enter my 6 digit code. after i enter the first 4 digits of the 6 digit code it starts beeping and cannot enter the rest of the code. because you can't enter the 6 digit code you can't perform any of the default functions. help would be greatly appreciated!

If you have not been able to factory reset it, get on the horn with Schlage customer support. If it's less than 2 years old, it's a likely under warranty 👍

I have this exact lock. The electronics in it work perfectly but the turning mechanism does nothing. I could stand there and spin it forever and it never unlocks or locks.

I just bought a house that has 2 on these locks. One of the locks doesn’t do anything except A beat noise and it sounds like it tried to work but nothing happens. And neither lock has keys.

Hopefully the resetting works! You can take the lock to any local locksmith shop and have them key it to your other house key so long as your house key slides into the keyhole it can be made to work the electronic lock as an override. Videos on everything but why/how to fix Schlage BE365 will not lock. Bolt engages but does not remain locked. Thumb turn does not spin but re-opens bolt instead after it has been engaged, either without or with code. Is this an electronic or mechanical problem? Resetting to factory does not cure.

I live in Canada and this lock stops working in freezing weather. Junk! Out in the country its dangerous when the kids get off the bus and can’t get into the house because the lock won’t work!

Just fixed the problem ! I reassembled the lock in open position again. we need to make sure the plastic piece in between the 2 screws is in vertical position so it won't interfere with the screw holes when mounting the lock and the lock had to be in unlock position as well.
