Hey, this was really useful, thanks for this. Can you please address how to avoid getting water up the nose while on our back, I know exhaling can be the way but can you let us know how to practice that, I really struggle to be in that position and exhale when face is underwater

I still do backstroke drills and swim the backstroke with and without paddles. Love it. Thanks coach.

Thank you for sharing your experience! It's great to hear that you're actively incorporating backstroke drills into your swim routine. Keep up the fantastic work! I'm glad to hear you find paddles useful! They can be a great training tool, but it's also important to remember they can potentially cause harm if not used properly. Always be mindful when using them, and avoid putting too much stress on your shoulders. Proper form and technique are key. Happy swimming and stay safe! Best, Coach Mandy

Can do a video of what do with your hands under water ? Do you windmill then underwater? Flow to the sides?

2 questions I meant to ask, but forgot. What is your breathing pattern on back stroke? For me, if I am going long max distance per stroke, I breath on every arm pull. A short inhale before I start to pull. I have been experimenting with higher sprint type stroke rate and try to breath every other arm stroke like freestyle, but seem to eventually go back to a breath on every stroke. I appear to burn more oxygen than most swimmers. Second question is you seem to have no trouble getting your top side arm up out of the water for less drag. It is an effort for me, and the shoulder shrug up at the peak of my recover seems to help a bit, when I remember it. Do you use a bit more rotation with back stroke than you do with freestyle? I have been experimenting with a deeper pull, but that isn't a 'natural' for me, at least not yet. I guess another part to this is do you use the same rotation in freestyle that you use in back stroke? For sure, with back stroke, your shoulders are below the water while with freestyle, your shoulders are already on top of the water. Maybe even do a video about this....

Please could you show the path of the hand-arm paddle under the water for backstroke - frame-by-frame if possible?
@SWIMVICE9 ай бұрын
Thank you for your suggestion! I appreciate your interest in a frame-by-frame breakdown of the backstroke hand-arm paddle movement. I'll definitely consider incorporating this into future videos. To make sure you don't miss out on those, be sure to subscribe and stay notified! If you're serious about learning the entire stroke cycle in detail, including specific drills, my SWIMVICE program provides a comprehensive backstroke module. You can find it inside the program at linktr.ee/swimvice. This module offers a full drill progression, exactly what you're looking for, to help you master the backstroke technique. Thank you for your support and happy swimming! Best, Coach Mandy

I was told to "shrug" my shoulder when starting the stroke and this will help with rotation. Is this correct?

I Tried today to focus on technique , I was a total fiasco , on back as soon as my hands enters the water I feel if I start to catch/pull my body will move weird , I tried to stay more relaxed , nothing works, also I don’t feel the next stroke connecting at all , I tried to rotate but still does not feel right, on freestyle I tried to focus on entering smooth and early evf , in theory I have a good evf , in water nope , if I swim fast and I extend my hand with a little force I can breathe very good, if I try to swim relaxed I take water

I like when the trainer give me fins, the speed increase it s insane and I can feel ok how to pull backstroke, on the other hand without fins I struggle and don’t feel right when pulling, I feel like is wrong cand cannot pull when my hands enter in the water , any suggestions?
@SWIMVICE9 ай бұрын
I'm glad to hear you've found using fins helpful for your backstroke technique! They can indeed provide a significant boost in speed and help you feel the stroke more effectively. However, it's important to note that fins can be a bit tricky, as they can sometimes become a crutch and may not directly address the real issue, which often lies in alignment. In my SWIMVICE backstroke program, I go into depth on these aspects, providing drills and techniques to improve your stroke, even without relying too heavily on fins. The program addresses the nuances of backstroke, helping you find the right balance and coordination. It's worth mentioning that being unable to 'pull' may actually be related to a misalignment issue, where the emphasis should be on the 'catch' - a crucial part of the stroke. Correcting alignment is a crucial step before fine-tuning other elements. You can find more information at linktr.ee/swimvice. Fins are useful but need to be used sparingly because you can become dependent on them, potentially masking the actual problem. My program guides you through this process with carefully designed drill progressions. Keep up the great work, and remember, practice makes progress! If you have any specific questions or need further guidance, feel free to ask. Happy swimming! Coach Mandy

@@SWIMVICE thank you ! I used fins 2 times in 2 months so not often, my goal at 30 years is to make 1:10 on 100 backstroke , my motivation cannot be stopped by nothing .
