We all get sick, go on vacation, need a little break from the gym for one reason or another. For many people this can be scary because they are afraid that if they miss just one workout, they will gain weight. But it doesn't have to be this way! If you gain weight after taking a small break from working out, then you just need to set up your body to be able to handle taking breaks better (rather than thinking about how you're going to compensate for taking a break by restricting calories or doubling your cardio when you get back to the gym). Reverse dieting is the answer!

I've often found when I have to take a week out either due to illness or parental commitments, I end up losing weight despite being on the same calories as I have when I'm training. When I go back I find that I'm much stronger than I was. I never schedule in deloads so I always view these weeks as unintentional deloads week and benefits me in the long run!

If that’s true then you’re probably overtraining! Try scaling back a little on your regular workouts (either decrease frequency, or intensity, or both) and you’ll probably get better & faster results!

This is helpful-I feel like I have a pretty good foundation, and I eat super intuitively, but I’ve been super stressed because I’m entering a rigorous grad school program in August and might not be able to work out as consistently 😢

I don’t know how you have such great timing, but I’ve been sick for a few days and HATE not being able to exercise. (Slightly obsessed!) I used to get sick the week after finals in college too. Can you say ‘stress bucket?’ 😆😆 I’ve been counting down for your reverse diet program! I don’t do IG so bummer.

Could you talk about the effects of the ketogenic diet on metabolism and how to transition off of it in a healthy way? I want to come off of the diet, but every time I try I start gaining weight rapidly. Not just the water weight, but way past that. I have even tried to be in a caloric deficit. I know that you have done keto in the past. I want to be able to lose more weight just by counting and going on reverse diets but I can’t seem to do that.

It might depend on your organism. I deal with PCOS and the doctors suggested to stay on low carb diet. Maybe you could try to increase carb intake slowly and carefully and see what will happen adjusting to long term solution that won't be a shock to your digestive system.

Unpopular opinion: monk fruit tastes like feet. I see something with clean ingredients, I get all excited and find out there’s monk fruit extract 😭 give me good old stevia any day

@@MissFitAndNerdy I generally avoid stevia too on principle, so I focus on organic sugar when possible. I wish I liked monk fruit sweetener!
