An easy way to get the centre of any rectangle (without arithmetic) is to draw and X by placing your straight edge from top-left corner to bottom-right, draw a line (roughly in the middle, does not have to be full length) and repeat again from top-right to bottom-left. The centre is the point where both lines intersect. You can also find the centre of a circle by basic geometry (using Thales theorem): if you have a right angle in a [virtual] triangle and the vertex of the right angle lies on a circle's circumference, then the line segment joining the other two vertices of the triangle must be a diameter of the circle. Basically if you place the inner corner of a [framing or carpenters] square on any point on the circumference then the two points where the square intersects with the circle circumference mark the extents of the diameter (a circle has infinity many diameters, lines though the centre enclosed by the circumference, but in practice people often just say 'the diameter' implying that there is only one instead of 'a diameter' even though the latter is less likely to aggrieve your friendly neighbourhood maths nerd).

Thank you! I'm installing a ridiculous amount of cabinet knobs & the official site wasn't as helpful showing the measurement marks. I feel a little more empowered after watching.

This was very helpful but would love seeing how you use it on an upper or lower edge of a cabinet door

I could make a video of that if you would like! The principal is still the same. You would set your jig to the appropriate depth (the distance from the edge of the door to the mounting screws of your handle) and then clamp it and make sure your drill guides are at the appropriate distance. Then drill the holes and you're good to go! I suggest trying it on a sacrificial piece of wood first if you're in doubt. Thank you for the comment and let me know if you would like me to show you in a video!

@@jtswoodworking4857 If you could show me in a video I would be so grateful. I'm ok with the drill but the measuring and placement scare me as i don't know the standards. I have shaker style cabinets and am probably going with pulls. I'm not very handy and it's my first time -- seeing someone else do it helps a ton!

or handles, not sure pulls is the correct term

There are handles and knobs. Handles would require two holes and knobs just one. I can show both. I'll write it down and attempt to do a quick video here this week.

@@jtswoodworking4857 I think i ifgured it out. What I didn't understand was how far from the top or bottom to place the handle but i found something that said 2.5" is standard.

How would you use the drawer pull jig for a 7" pull instead of the largest on the jig which is 5"?
@jtswoodworking4857
@jtswoodworking4857 2 жыл бұрын
I think you would have to measure it out yourself. That’s the largest Kreg offers. But maybe another company makes a larger jig?

💥 Very nice, thank you but I can’t draw with a pencil on the finish of my drawer faces.

Yea I understand. The idea would be to use the jig before finishing. Thanks for the comment!
