The restrictions caused by the fittings in the PEX B piping are not really something that affects the end use. Look at the ports of the inlets on the shower valves, lavatory valves, etc. They are most reduced down to 3/8" at the point of use, so the restriction you mention would. It cause a change to the end user experience. It may be of importance to keeping the flow at a specific fps but that's really it.

Tell the people how much water pressure we lose when plumbers use PEX. Up to 47 percent. Stay away from this or you will be sorry. Roy

@@roywatson3745 Then just go to 3/4 if you're worried about that. Most of the time, you can blame water flow on restrictors in the faucet fixtures.

@@Rynker Ryan the shower head and tub faucet were loose and water from was running down the wall into the wall at tub faucet. You wouldn't like it either. My house is plumbed with 1/2 inch copper pipe. It is stupid to go to 3/4 PEX for one shower.

Prefab what you can, and clamp in place what you absolutely must. I do use PEX B often, and I prefer the clamp pinched rings vs the crimp rings.

Sioux Chief PEX B and Zurn pipe PEX B is compatible is expandable fittings. We use it all the time at work and do not have to oversize since it does not restrict flow with expandable fittings.

@@HouseImprovements It has been confusing people including myself since I was always taught that PEX B was not expandable. Love your videos though, keep up the good work.

If you increase the size to 3/4” you still have to reduce to 1/2” before you reach your fixture. How close to the fixture do you have to get before reducing to 1/2” ? A couple of feet? 3 feet?

Great video! I'm trying to install a water softener in my house that has all copper pipes. Was gonna use PEX to branch off of main water line. You think PEX would be fine to use since my whole houses water will be coming from the PEX?

yes...just make sure you use the correct bend fittings and crimping tools. You got this. Just be patient, it actually will be fun. Especially if you're adverse to soldering copper fittings

Love the channel. I'm going with Pex-B for my renovation and need your opinion on those ring clamps. When the tool clicks and the ring is installed 1/8th from the end, it will not leak, right? And what about mice? How likely is it they will eat this stuff? Should I coat the pipe with something that will make them disgusted by the pipe smell that would last 30 years?

Once the tool is clicking it should be tight. I have heard of mice chewing pex but have never seen it myself. If you put something on it you dont want it to react with the pex and if it smells you are likely to be smelling it as well in the house so I would not do that . Control the mice ,not the pex.

Use 1 inch Pex-B pipe for the cold side and 3/4 inch on the hot side.

@@robertrocca6595 thanks for the distinction. Cause I typically heard plumbers referring to outside walls as cold side and interior as hot side. And we both know by code you can't run any lines hot or cold on the " cold side"

A & B are exactly the same size tube … SDR9

No ,inside diameters are slightly different I believe but the fittings are actually way different

The crimp rings are copper.
