How to change how you FEEL about drinking.
Did you know our brains are more powerful than supercomputers? Think about it! We created supercomputers. We’ve developed cures for diseases. We’ve been to the moon. Is there anything we can’t do if we put our minds to it?
Our minds are powerful.
Powerful enough to help us change how we feel about drinking, and even, our desire to drink.
I have the power to change my thinking, and so do you.
And JOIN US! The February Intensive class is now open for enrollment - nakedmindcourse.com.

It can happen! And it can happen despite failing in the past again and again! I came to this place after I made the decision to quit. I began studying alcohol, it’s effect on my body and my brain. I wanted to know why, despite so many bad experience, why the hell I kept returning. And I got answers through people like Annie Grace, Allen Carr, and Sober Leon. Suddenly I was finding people who I could truly relate to - they were describing me! And this attitude can apply to ANY addiction- cigarettes, food, gambling, even addiction to a person. Cognitive dissonance. It’s crazy. I wish I’d had this information years ago when I quit cigarettes. I wish I’d had the information when I’d tried to quit or control alcohol before. Better late then never! I just hit my 5 month mark, and it’s been effortless. I have lost any desire. I revel in the thought of never being hung over, never forgetting what happened the night before, never feeling anxious and guilty and sad. I rarely drank when I had young kids, and I now have a five year old granddaughter. It brings me great joy to know she’ll never have a memory of her Grammy being drunk and stupid. That’s a great feeling!

@@ThisNakedMind Hi Annie. I'm doing well. I'm at 3 months af as of yesterday. I would be at almost a year, but had a slip last November. Thank goodness for your book and support I view my slips as a learning experience and not beat myself up. :-) Today I'm beginning a 40 day journey with no sugar. I hope you are doing well.

Hello Annie It sounds like you are talking about the big difference between a grudging acceptance that you should cut back on or give up alcohol versus a feeling of being happy and delighted that you no longer have to be burdened by the nasty side effects of alcohol.

Yes I prayed and this came up in my search right away and I can honestly say she is a blessing because she is gifted in her way of communicating the dangers of alcohol. It made me rethink everything I ever believed about alcohol. I usually only on weekends but I noticed I would binge drink almost every time. I knew I had to stop when I was hiding it from my bible study. I felt like a hypocrite. I can’t stand that feeling of guilt and sickness. Now I want this gone.

Hi Annie, this has been a slow process for me. I listen to podcasts daily. I said to myself my goal is to never drink again one day . My drinking keeps decreasing. I haven't had wine in my house in months. I said I'll just social drink. I'm finding when I do drink now I'm not liking how I feel. I don't want to feel loopy and like crap in the morning . The physical motion of not having the wine in my hand is hard so I grab a flavored seltzer. Im someone who has a difficult time relaxing so I been doing puzzles if I feel edgy. I feel like I'm getting there. I never drank to get drunk but drank enough for the buz then stopped. I drank to take the edge off after work and if I had a stressful day. I don't want to be like that anymore☺️

Vegans don't like being around meat. Not because they are tempted to eat it (vegan food is really good anyway) but because it reminds them of all the cruelty needed to produce that piece of meat. It reminds them of how selfish humans are, even the ones they love, to put a 5 minute pleasure above the tremendous pain the animal has to go through for their entire life. Unless your brother is vegan for his health and not for ethics. In that case the comparison with alcohol is totally appropriate.

We need to realize that people do things for so many different reasons. We can't ever assume or judge others for their reasons or how they feel. All we can do is listen and hope to understand or at least empathize.
@loriwood8542
@loriwood8542 9 ай бұрын
Not totally true. I have been vegan for 11 years. The comparison is actually very accurate- but maybe in different ways - what about the non-ethical marketing from big alcohol pushing this poison on young kids- and all of us - amidst the fact that alcohol kills so many innocent people from drunk drivers (who most likely didn’t realize how drunk they were before getting behind the wheel). To kids who are abused from parents who are under the influence?

This withdrawal phase you talk about I do not understand. I usually have two glasses of wine with dinner. But I do not feel a craving for another glass of wine. I just feel sleepy. If I'm at a party, I will want to try another wine if it is something interesting. But when I'm by myself, I have no desire. I remember in Colorado for skiing, I ordered a glass of beer or wine, but I wouldn't want another, because it wasn't very good quality. I guess I'm just a snob.
@ThisNakedMind
@ThisNakedMind 10 ай бұрын
The withdrawal is still there because you've created this desire for alcohol. Otherwise you wouldn't be entertaining the idea of drinking.
@thomasschellberg8213
@thomasschellberg8213 10 ай бұрын
@@ThisNakedMind Is this true for all substances I put in my body? Do I consume meat, potatoes, and vegetables because I am suffering from withdrawal? In the sense that I am hungry, that is true. Alcohol is just a beverage, just as is tea, coffee or pop. We enjoy drinking them, but it does not mean we're withdrawing from them when we consume them again. Coffee, like alcohol, seems to be a problem when people consume too much of it.
