People who worry and get mad when you teach or tell them there is a solution to stop worrying ....are very contagious. They use fear for personal attention. They have the right to live this way...however in my family and experience...I had to leave behind toxic worriers because they enjoy causing suffering and get their own identity by spreading...chaos...and fear..... They never have gratitude...and really hate life.

This is so on point, you are truly preaching to the choir! My mother is still alive, but she has wasted so much time on resentment, regret and lack of gratitude. Whenever I get out of my element, I say to her "You're the thief of happiness in this house." It makes me feel very bad for her, but more bad for us in the house b/c we've been dragged along on this mental abuse pity party. It is a huge challenge not to let her behavior get to me, but I try to avoid her as much as I can, unless she has something good to say. She has literally shunned away family friends, relatives and even a dear girlfriend whom no longer talks to her. On top of that, my mother has been seeing a therapist for over 1.5 years and has still remained herself. I believe people like her never change, and only they have to make the realization. When a Covert Narcissist is a family member, it is so difficult! However, I appreciate your videos and healthy reminders, which is like therapy to me!! Thank you!!

Dear Marisa, your mother reminds me mine. She has always a problem for every solution
@alcudiababe1

My Mom is a worrier and she worries sometimes over the silliest things to me, like when I chose paint for my kitchen because I was having work done Dad told me the next day she was up all night. So if I make the tiniest suggestion of saying this is what I want in my house she'll fight me over it and my Dad will. My family all know she's a perfectionist, we joke sometimes but it is a pain to experience - every Christmas growing up I'd hear I get no help but if we did do something we'd be doing it wrong and get out of the way with her coming at us with trays so when we did help it was no good either but she'd have to tell you exactly what she wanted. She'd write lists of things she'd want Dad to do on a Friday otherwise she'd say he was bloody useless. I'd see it as saving my Dad's behind not to get yelled at. She's like one of those anxious yapping dogs that only gets louder than before. One time she said to me quite innocently "that used to get me my way" but then she added but that doesn't do much good anymore. I, used to refer to her as the headless chicken growing up squawking trying to find her head. Anyway, now she says she's a lot calmer and the reason for it she's taking magnesium powder in her drinks, she's on a health fanatic and encouraging Dad to do the same anyway, she tells me to take it amongst other tablets she prepares (don't ask me why don't I do my own tablets) she's all about control and if I moan or complain she'd say if I think that's bad she'd say you'd want to live with your Nan, she'll always say she was a good Mom but that she was hard. However it's because of this health craze she's on and taking god knows how many tablets getting my dad to do it morning and night but she believes it makes her calm so these pills she takes she believes it wards off colds and everything, now, I'm starting to believe because of another video of yours it's in the mind if she takes a tablet, she's alright. It might not be the tablets that's doing it it's obviously her mind. So if I don't repeatedly take tablets and I've caught a cold for example she'll say, see, you have to take your tablets or you'll get a cold and now you've got one. I'm starting to think it's not the tablets, it's her mind and because I've my own mind she's a little self righteous and so is my Dad now so it's annoying. We do things in very different ways but you can tell she thinks her way is better though and will try and make you feel as tiny as possible but I've just got to not react to it and think each to our own. She judges!

My life has been total chaos. I've done everything like plead and argue back. I grey rock and I have no contact for weeks and that seems to work because a narcissist needs a lot of attention. I even got half of an apology the other day. She's 82 and on her way out.
