5mm internal diameter tubing cut to the length of how much the plastic with the elastic attached moves up for your head. Then cut tube down the middle and put between both plastic clips on the headband. It's what I'll be trying and should stop the feeling of them falling down your head?

You need to turn the outer small shell to the left, preferably with a pair of scissors. Spread it apart and insert the two scissor blades into the holes of the shell, then you'll have a bit of torque to turn it to the left. Then you can remove the small shell.
