It's like the old funny story: old woman comes to the repair service showing them a macintosh with a shotgun hole in the display. "Can you fix this" - she asks. "Are you in your mind? It's completely dead" - they said. She blamed them for being unprofessional and went to competitors service. After few weeks she came back and showed fully functioning macintosh triumphantly. Guys from the service were defeated but also curious. They went to competitors, bought a pack of beer and asked them how did they do that. They said that the only thing not affected bu the shot was HDD, so they bought a new macintosh, swapped the hard drive and charged this old lady with +10% price of the new mac.

Someone on KZfaq already did this, he got an old broken 2012 MacBook I think it was and moved the motherboard into it's own case and turned it into a Mac Mini like desktop PC. Forgot his channel name, just search "MacBook turn into desktop" or something.

That is if you are an apple junkie. I can get any number of pc laptops with those same specs for hundreds less. and repairing them for much less as their individual parts cost less. I still don't see what advantage apple products have that cause them to cost so much more.

$700 dollars worth of free parts and labour from apple, presumably because its still in warranty? $469 dollars worth of sponsored ifixit lcd display assembly?(33cm? you mean 13" macbook pro) + $20 purchase + an iphone 6S handset $200? So for other people … a total potential cost of $1319 plus lots of nerve wracking time and labour for anyone else. You are far better off buying a late 2013 15" or 13" macbook pro 2nd hand imo decent ports, retina display, no T2, replaceable SSD with an ssd adapter, unless you have the spare resource to buy a 16" macbook pro new. not the $20 clickbait repair title. ouef

beingatliberty preach. I kind of want USBc and the Touch Bar but not enough to justify the price of them. The 2013 - 2015 pros with all the ports and Retina display are perfect. I currently use a late 2015 and it’s perfect aside from the “smudging” in my display. Need to take it into Apple for repair but it isn’t even that bad... only in direct lighting is it noticeable and even then, not so bad. I plan on getting a 15 inch from the same time very soon.

Yes hello Apple, this computer which doesn't charge, has a broken screen and trackpad and swapped parts appears to have a malfunctioning keyboard. But...the keyboard was is still defective. Period. It should have been replaced. That would be like saying, you replaced multiple body panels on your car, put in a completely custom interior, etc, but the factory/dealer shouldn't replace a defective engine or transmission.

Apple only has a replacement program because the MBP is deliberately built not to be repaired/upgraded. The company doesn’t want you to go to a third party repair shop to extend the useful life of them. Selling you a new one is more profitable for them.

Its a bullshit video. You believe send a MacBook with a broken display, space gray lid, and silver body and expect them to *only* replace the logic board for *free*? If you sent that to Apple they would make you pay to replace the whole case and the broken display. They'd never ship back a partially functioning laptop.

Trevor you can get an iPhone 6 easily for under $80. It considering he buys phones in bulk it probably didn't even cost that much. Biggest reason we he got it cheap is a screen cost over $400

The screen being cracked has no say in whether the faulty touchpad, keyboard and battery gets replaced. The screen had nothing to do with those being faulty. Him opening the laptop is no issue either unless he was to damage components.

Buy the mid 2012 model. Its almost a decade old but its chief virtue is you can repair and upgrade it! Everyone else on here will give you the same advice.

I agree with you. I could’ve gone to the Apple store and said “Hi, my keyboard is broken” Apple store says “your display is also broken” I say “I use an external monitor” Apple basically gives me a new top case and if some internal part doesn’t work it was on their end. Then all I have to do is find out how to get the display. To be honest it’s be worth even more than $20 if someone wants to use it as an ornament.
