3 ways to improve balance (in daily activity)!
This is an interesting topic that results in different suggestions depending on who you ask. For example, some people may have issues with their cerebellum or mid-ear that affect their balance. That's not in my usual wheelhouse.
However, from a fitness standpoint, I find 3 major things can help balance.
1.) Mobility
2.) Stability
3.) Awareness-bility (I wanted these to rhyme)
Respectively, these will help you move in and out of comprised positions, maintain your current position, and have the practice and mind-body connection to utilize your mobility and stability.
If that last one seems confusing, consider that there is a "skill" to almost every fitness practice we do. People get much better at push-ups, bench press, etc after they practice for a few days or weeks - even if pure strength and muscle haven't changed much yet! This is a similar concept.
I also tried to find ways to improve balance that people don't have to dedicate the usual sets & reps to. Just things you may want to practice as you live your regular life!
Have a wonderful day!

What I'm hearing is that my daily routine of carrying awkward/heavy (sometimes both) objects up and down steep, uneven terrain is good for my balance. Yay! It's also good for my glutes and legs, haha.
@atriyakoller136
@atriyakoller136 8 ай бұрын
For me stairs didn't help. But that's also probably because I paired them with working too much, having too little sleep and too bad a diet all after a few times with COVID. Maaaaybe they'll help me though. I just gotta be extra careful when walking up and down the stairs, because uneven terrain is a no go for me these days (I really have to check my ankles after too many injuries)
@AbigailPoirier
@AbigailPoirier 8 ай бұрын
@@atriyakoller136 Ah. I have stairs, too, but was thinking more of the hills I walk up & down as I'm setting up temporary paddocks for our sheep. I can see how having all those adverse factors you mentioned would make it super hard for anyone to keep balance!

I think you’re the first (maybe second) person i’ve found that actually explains beginner beginner exercises, even though i’m pretty young i’ve been embarrassed about not being able to do push-ups, sit-ups/crunches, squats even (they hurt my knees until i figured out how to do them right), and when i saw i think your short about not having to do sit ups to train your core my face was just :O and i acc felt motivated to try and not be lazy, since I also got so tired of just laying around this summer, this is just a very run-on thank you! You also have vert good vibes!

Oh god, Hampton, sometimes i can't figure out how you do your whole day for to have body so skilled. There's no enough hours and energy in a day, but you make it possible 😆. I mean, to me it's like a lot of work, having explosive strength, resistant strength, isometric strength, speed, stamina, balance, and almost in every exercise I can imagine, every angle, i watch you and your body have a very good response... and you don't even look like making a big effort 😅!! I think you have the perfect way of life dude, really healthy and balanced.

This stuff becomes all the more important as you get older. My Dad died two months ago after a series of falls that were caused by his inability to stabilize himself when he even slightly lost balance. I tried to convince him to work on it but he just wouldn't. He had never got into the habit of exercising and he wasn't interested in making the effort at that point.
