Passion isn't about just liking something in my opinion. Its something you love so much that you can't imagine life with that thing. Its like your whole existence is dependent on following your passion even if it doesn't make successful instantly but its about being happy in what your doing and feeling fulfilled

I think the question "What do I want in life?" is a horrible question because it has you looking at things from the wrong perspective. It tricks people into thinking there's this "one big thing" they're supposed to accomplish. There's nothing wrong with having goals but they can quickly turn into an obsession if you tie your self-worth into achieving those goals. A much better question to ask is "What am I needing in this moment?" and "How can I take steps to meet my ever-changing needs more often?" At least that way you'll be more flexible and won't feel stuck.

I could be very depressed, but sit down and make a video where I look happy. Would you assume I’m depressed? Same with this guy. He could be burned out for all we know, but we just can’t see it because we only see what is shown to us. I’m not saying that he’s depressed or hates making videos. I’m just saying that you can’t assume how people feel or how they actually are based on watching curated videos. The only way you can “confidently” say that this guy is passionate about making videos is by actually being in his daily life or having a one on one chat with him where he is being completely truthful.

My parents coerced me into taking the road to medical school my entire life and now that I'm in college I finally realized that I don't want to work that field, and it was my parents influence that held me back from finding my true passion. I recently discovered that I really love entomology, 🦗 the study of insects 🦗 , and I'm gonna change my major very soon and work towards establishing myself into that field. For all of you lost out there, don't do what your parents want you to do, do what would make YOU happy. Have an amazing day everyone! 😊

Never give up, people. I've tried physics, astronomy, neurology, psychology, mathematics, cooking, sewing, knitting, crafting, automobiles, mechanics, robotics, streaming, video editing, and more. Keep going, try new things, amd when you find it, you'll know. Good luck, friends.

First and foremost, it's okay not to know. It'll come, and more importantly, it will probably change. Secondly, I think a common misconception is that you have to make your passion your job/career and that's just not the case. For 99% of us, the things we're passionate about won't have room for us to foster a career in. So I found a job/career that makes time and supports my passions which in turn helps me love what I do. I'm passionate about playing sports, playing video games, and playing music. It'd be incredibly difficult for me to become a pro hockey player, a pro twitch streamer, or a pro musician; not impossible, just difficult. Instead, I found a programming career that keeps me engaged, pays well, has a super flexible schedule, is remote, and promotes a wonderful culture. Was it something I planned on becoming when I was a child? Absolutely not. I didn't even know what programming was. However, I wouldn't trade this job in for anything. It allows me to continue doing the things I love. Be happy, be healthy folks. :) Great video, Hampton. :) Much love.

Writing is my passion. Whenever I sit down and write out the world inside my head onto my computer, there's a sense of happiness there, like I know exactly what I want to do. I feel the same about reading and playing the piano. All of these are things I genuinely enjoy. It's easy to tell when something is your passion; if it's not, you won't always be thinking about it in some corner of your mind. It's where you find yourself at your happiest.

Work backwards. Ask yourself what type of lifestyle you want and then find a career that allows that. Don’t focus on the job itself. Even if you love doing, it will still feel like work anyhow - which is why they will have to pay you to do it. So focus on the lifestyle more than the job. Work from home, downtown city or travels a lot? Part time, full time or all the time? Hourly, salary, commission or investment based? Year round, summers off or whenever you feel like? Modest income, high income or become billionaire? Traditional M-F 9-5 or do you want to work at night or on weekends. Work alone or part of a team. Work for yourself or for a company? Answering these questions is much easier IMO and the answers are much more important than “what do you enjoy doing?” Even if cooking is your passion, being a Line Cook at Denny’s will not bring you joy.

My interests and passions change really quickly and drastically. I go from loving interior design and wanting to redo my whole apartment, to fixing gameboys, collecting VHS tapes and model trains, etc. I'm autistic, so I've had it in my head that my special interest(s) have to be one or two things that last for years. For me, it's not like that. I get very passionate and sucked into things really quickly, but unwillingly drop the interest just as quickly. It's frustrating, and I haven't found a way to help it. One of my longer running passions has been trying to educate myself and others about autism, which has lead me to get friends I really appreciate, as well as get in arguments with people who don't quite understand facts. Something I've always enjoyed however, is video games, but I wouldn't say it's a passion. Just a strong hobby!

Reading some of the comments and looking at my own life I get the impression that having something you are really passionate about often entails something that is very tricky to turn into your life project because it's just impractical. I do feel though that, as Hampton said, it is very useful to expose oneself to the greatest variety of things possible, as sooner or later by mere statistics there is a chance one will find something. I've also tried writing it, but I also struggle to make really good writing like I usually read. @Gilagr26
@Gilagr26 2 жыл бұрын
@@codyw9129 I didn't know it either and quickly googled it. Floriography seems to be the language and meaning of flowers. You pick flowers who have a specific meaning and put them together to transport a message or a wish.
@crowcrow2034
@crowcrow2034 2 жыл бұрын
@@codyw9129 It's the language of flowers and was used in Victorian times to send secret messages, esp between women and lovers. Basically Victorian encryption - you'd pick the flowers from your flower dictionary and pray you did it right lol. Flowers/plants have had a lot of different meanings throughout history, so I enjoy trying to trace them in herbalism and mythology, since it's fun for me I guess :D

When my bf started to crochet, he invited me to join him. I thought there's no way I'd enjoy it as much as he does, but sure, I'll give it a try. Fast forward to almost a year later and it's become second nature to crochet a bit every day. I love looking for new projects to make and challenge myself with increasingly harder patterns. The only downside is that now I go crazy when yarn goes on sale. I have So. Much. Yarn. 😅

I'm between science and video games right now. I love games as art, none of that corporate bullshit that's consuming the industry, it makes me feel emotions and connections and fall in love with stories and entire worlds. Same thing with science, especially physics, when you get that "I get it" moment, even from reading a book or watching a video, I feel this fire in me that demands that I read more, learn more and understand more about the painfully indifferent yet eternally beautiful universe we live in. Right now I'm studying physics at uni, but only time will tell if I go all the way in science or if I end up in something else.

I've taken up bicycling, and I've lost 40 lbs in 4 month just from riding my bike. Exercise has helped me curb my guilty pleasures in junk food, as well. I've found myself waking up and feeling genuinely good. I loved what you said about, "this is your journey." In one of you vids. I took it to heart, dude. Thank you for what you do. There wasn’t just one thing I wanted to do but when I stick with something I keep at it till the next thing in life. I love art, editing, writing, forensics, astrology, exercising, practicing my violin/ukelele, and hope one day I’ll make a streaming channel. For as long as I can remember, I have had passion and aptitude for creating things, especially art and entertainment media. The earliest examples were just scribbles on paper, but then I built with legos, and eventually created a few stop motion shorts with them. I’ve made many things of varying nature over the years, but one of my proudest creations is a functioning crossbow that I made from scratch. I am now in school for a degree in Digital Game Design, and based on how satisfied I am during and after a project, I think I picked wisely. Not everyone I talk to about my degree understands it or thinks it’s cool, but as this man said, that doesn’t matter. I am happy, and I can continue to be happy with my career path.
