I'm no saint, as the earliest days of the interwebs can attest, but I long ago stopped using the apps/sites for meetups. I'm more focused on social intercourse these days. Some times I'm indulged but when I'm not I just shrug it off. I just think, "You do you, boo, but it's going to take more than geography and salacious pix to change my mind." I've learned I have to like someone at least a little bit before meeting, and too few want to invest the time when the next guy might say yes.

When guys on the apps make remarks like the "harry hole" comment I think they are newly out, inexperienced, completely thrown caution to the wind, desperate, but most of all subconsciously ashamed and still haven't fully embraced their sexuality. So they don't respect themselves and they don't respect you because they think you are equally deplorable. So yeah those blunt disgraceful remarks are internalized homophobia to me.

Some ghosting on the apps can be from catfishing or even someone using old photos of themself. More salacious photos definitely are better to entice hookup. Side question for you: what is a polite way to decline when a guy you’re not interested in asks you to dance?

Can you provide more detail on what the text and options in your profiles say? Does your Grindr say you're looking for casual sex as well as dates and relationships? I think Grindr also has an option to tell people if you accept NSFW pictures. What do you have that set to? Just curious. In my experience on dating/hookup apps, if you explicitly state you are not looking for something in your profile, you almost never get people asking for that thing (of course there are people who don't read anything and are basically sending out mass copy paste messages). If someone doesn't explicitly say they're not looking for something, I can understand the "it never hurts to ask" mentality. You can be looking for friend and relationships, but also be up for hookups if the opportunity presents itself. Sniffies is definitely 100% engineered to be completely for hookups.
