Thom Yorke, the lead singer wrote this song after falling head over heels for a girl. He said she looked like an angel. He never approched her or told her how he felt because of his very low self-esteem. He was picked on and called names all the time bc of a condition he was born with. (Lazy eye) I've always loved this song, but after learning the background story, knowing he wrote it from personal experience, it makes it even more sad 😥

Yep. I don’t identify personally with the song... thank God. But I enjoy living vicariously through someone else’s extreme emotions..... makes me feel totally alive for a minute. And of course the build up to “Ruuuun” transports me.

Fun fact, the "cha-chunk, cha-chunk" hook was a total accident because the guitar player Jonny Greenwood didn't like the song and thought he was tanking it's chances of being on the album. Instead, it's iconic.

It's wild because I was one of the more popular kids in my high school. I was a great athlete and college football prospect. I was extroverted, tall and good looking. Then catastrophe hit and I spent the next 12 years in complete isolation because of some really bad depression. I got fat, lost my charisma and confidence, not a single friend to speak of. It's weird that this song meant nothing to me back then, but is completely relatable to me now. Everything has changed. I count myself lucky that I had those years before depression hit, but I wouldn't wish this disorder on my worst enemy. I'll beat this and get my happiness back, One day at a time. Everybody have a good day!

The thing I appreciate most about you is your originality....what feels like a commitment to just do you...be yourself. If you watch many reaction videos you see the same "what's good" with a head bob opening to their video. I often wonder where in the h*ll it came from and why they think they need to copy it. If you're a weirdo that's awesome, just keep being your own kind of weirdo.

The thing about Radiohead, first it's the vocals that stand out, then you start picking out the amazing guitar work, but as you keep going down that line you start to realize they're all essential parts of what makes the band. I mean especially once they...found their sound and got more experimental. Which is why Creep is a stand out track on what is an otherwise pretty rough debut album. There's some interesting ideas in there, but it's more like a demo of a band still trying to figure themselves out. But yeah, if you want to go in sequence, do Street Spirit next, it's off of The Bends, the second album. It's a great song. "Just" is another good track but it's also a good example of their general sound at this time, the very 90's alt rock generic elements but in Just it works better and/or has aged better than some of their other tracks. Then there's the third album which, without overhyping is just a good damn master piece. When you look at where they were evolving musically there's definitely a before and after OK Computer. I am open to the debate whether it's their best album, it's one of the best but which spot it is in precisely I think can be debated, but what can't be questioned is which album represented the biggest step forward musically for the band. So if you want a track recommendation off of that one I'm going to have to think, to narrow it down, where to start etc.

I don't think The Bends can be matched as far as pure song writing (excepting a few tracks on OK Computer).

YESSSSS, man!! I love this song. I remember the first time I heard it when it premiered on the radio. The premiere MTV. Also, the now hard, iconic riff ( that you jumped from lmao) the guitarist did before the chorus was him trying to purposely fuck up the song because he hated it lol. Jokes on him because it turned out to be insanely well known and iconic. Thom York ( the singer) wouldn’t play this song for YEARS. He only played it again recently. Love ya, my dude!!! ❤️

Yeah- I can’t remember which show anymore, but at one of the live shows I was lucky enough to attend, they actually played Creep but Thom couldn’t remember the lyrics. Radiohead was one of the most amazing concerts I've ever been to. A girl invited me. I wasn't really a fan at the time -- but I sure the fuck was after the concert! Holy Shit they are amazing -- and more amazing live...

When this song first came out, I LOVED IT. However, my nephew bought the album, and hearing it "uncut" with "so fucking special" was awesome. Knowing that a group is not afraid to be real world with their music is fucking awesome!

Have a soft spot for Sly and the Family Stone-was about 5 and I remember my parents taking me to a music festival and hearing them--got the funk in early. James Brown--in the 80's when I was clubbing, my "club" would play "Give it Up or Turn it Loose" and that's when the guys would take over the dance floor and literally have dance battles. Favorite Parliament Funkadelic song: "Flashlight". Can't go wrong with any of it!!!

@@jaybee3055 Yeah, in chronological order of Funk James would be Numero Uno, though for a Mr Vid first impression I think that particular track is most likely to get hooked on the genre. Of course I am equally down with all mentioned!! Im addition as a drummer am a forever student of Jabo and Clyde!

Thom Yorke has an amazing voice and Radiohead is such a prolific band. I was at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame of Induction Ceremony last year when they were inducted. In true fashion Thom isn’t into all the awards stuff. But you should check out their Grammy performance of “15 Step” best performance of the evening.
