That second secret was... A lot to process... Something about the fact they were just able to admit it on voice note to thousands of people on a podcast, showing absolutely no remorse makes me feel extremely uncomfortable. I hope that was made up because listening to someone say those words, and admit that they killed their disabled grandma with no remorse makes me feel gross.

i’m just still so confused on how he managed to get so deep into the fake life. why did it start and why did he keep going. he could’ve ended it at the beginning and passed it off as a funny joke. im completely in shock like that’s truly one of the most insane things i’ve heard.

He's probably done it in the past to cover things he's embarrassed about, or to save himself from conflict from a situation. I've never done it to this extent but I remember I used to lie about my uncle being my dad, the type of house I lived in, what I owned etc. I made up this whole persona and in the end I would forget lies I told and quickly remember and catch myself when someone brought them up. It ended up being all for nothing because my friends never talked about my personal life or gave much interest in it, because my personal life wasn't what connected us, my personality was. I could be 100% wrong about the dude who confessed, but me constantly making up personas to be accepted has caused me to lie about things that legit don't even matter.

It’s hard to stop when you start. Sometimes you want to be something else, have something you don’t have and it feels good. You keep going for just ”a little bit more” and it gets harder and harder and harder. Even if it’s a small lie, it can be super hard to confess to lying, since in that moment it’s usually easier to keep on lying. This is coming from someone who struggles with compulsive lying. Not proud of it and I’m working on myself all the time, but that’s how it is

Um... the story about the grandma... This is murder and though she was sick, it doesn't mean she deserved a horrible, scary and painful death. Her saying she was ''disabled'' and ''crying all day'' and no one wanted is heartbreaking... Of course she was crying all day, she is struggling to live a normal life and no one wants to help her navigate that. I feel so sad for her that her own family did not want to help and ultimately went as far as causing her death... And the person who did this needs therapy. This is not normal.

I know. That poor woman… I wish the family would have tried to make her feel better. Given her something to do with her hands and spend her time on. Like clay to make things with. Lino print stuff is pretty cheap, so she could carve pictures or words or whatever she wants. I wish they would’ve gotten a little alarm clock radio and turned it up enough that she could feel the vibrations against her leg or something while she made stuff. Off the top of my head in less than a minute I thought of those things. I’m sure there are way better ideas and lots of ways they could’ve helped her and maybe made her less sad so she wouldn’t have been crying all the time. What an awful way to go..

I loved hearing you talk about your views and curiosities surrounding ENM! I found the aspect of compulsory monogamy (and also comp-het cough cough) to be very true for my experience as well and so suffocating! It can be hard to imagine having a happy and fulfilling relationship outside of monogamy when you've only been shown that route and made to believe it's the only option. Finally choosing to step outside of that comfort zone allowed me to explore a whole new world of what it means to be in consensual, caring, respectful and honest relationships with other humans. Anyways, thank you again for speaking about this and I hope everyone gets to discover and explore what style of relationship works best for them💗

Another take on poly thoughts:- I grew up in a household of two broken parents coming from horrible childhoods that had a broken marriage. It hurt me a lot growing up. So going into my first serious relationship (not my first relationship, but first deep one) I thought my partner was amazing, that love didn't get better than that. So I was very upset when I'd fantasize about other people. After I broke it off, bc I began to realize that if that was what love was I didn't want it, I realized what we had wasn't a healthy love. It was a bad relationship, but I didn't know bc it was still "better' than what I had with my parents. Now later in life, with a healthy relationship, with a good partner, I don't fantasize about others, I'm very happy being monogamous. I realize this isn't a truth for many feeling this way about relationships, but I wanted to share my experience Edit: I realize "fantasize" sounds only sexual. I wanted to clarify my thoughts weren't just sexual, I would fantasize about every part of a relationship but with others. Dates, deep talks, meeting family, etc.

I was just watching a true crime documentary where these women killed their dad by putting a pillow over his face and they got away with it until later when they confessed it to a friend and the friend went to the police. The women obviously went to jail. People, just because someone is old doesn't mean you can murder them...I wonder what Alex's reaction would have been if that person used a different excuse, like that they murdered someone because they were mentally disabled and never talked and were a burden to people...all of the sudden its not so funny...

the fake identity guy seemed like a really lovely guy and i think he really just dug a really deep hole. the fact that he would want to go back to his dangerous last life than hurt anyone of his friends really says something about his personality. i think he needs to come clean and explain his past and that he needed to get away, i think his friends would be shocked and need some space but if he really explained what happened they might get over it but if it’s goes south he could just move again.

To the guy living the double life… probably the best way to get out of that pickle (while not hurting others) is probably another white lie. Which is still not the best (morally) but….tell others you were trying to get away from your ex and make sure they couldnt find you, so you tried to develop a whole other persona, and it got a little too far.

people that search up gore videos should be treated the same as people that search up child porn in my opinion. because even though they haven’t done anything they still have the urge and potentially the capability to do these awful things, which is the same principle with pedophiles
@paigerinker7384
@paigerinker7384 2 жыл бұрын
I don't necessarily disagree. But, to play devil's advocate, one of the reasons for imprisoning people for looking at child porn is that real children are being harmed in the making of that. I am assuming that no one was actually murdered in the gore he was watching (but if so, then there's definitely a problem...)

in my own personal experience as someone who used to watch gore; it was never really an “urge” to kill people like this dude. it was more so of a shitty coping mechanism where i imagined it was myself and/or trying to desensitize myself to death due to the amount of death i had been surrounded by. but yeah no that guy is horrible, there’s fetishes that are extreme and there’s morbid curiosity but that guy is genuinely so concerning.

Yeah no… For the most part most people that see gore videos are using it as a way to scare themselves and kind of push their limits in that boundary. It’s really just a mix of curiosity and liking the feeling of to be thrilled. So many people see and enjoy legal gore every day a.k.a. horror movies. Many horror films depict hyper realistic shots of death/murder. but you wouldn’t say that someone who is really into horror has the capability to mirror what they are watching. You can’t really say the same for CP though as the only way to see anything remotely close to that is literal CP.

I am so fascinated about the fake identity story. I really would love to hear an interview between him and a psychologist. I wonder if it felt easier to be "someone else" in the new life because then if they rejected him, they weren't really rejecting "him," they were rejecting the other identity? So maybe there's an underlying fear of rejection in there? And if that's something he's dealing with, I can understand how the thought of pulling the curtain away for the people in his new life would feel extra terrifying. I hope that he's able to speak to a therapist about it, and I don't mean with the intent to make him confess to his friends or change or anything, but to process the stress of going on like this, process any latent fears or past hurts that may be plaguing him and/or that drove him to this, and I'm sure it would feel immensely relieving to be able to speak to someone regularly who knows both sides of you.

I've been in a poly relationship for a long time now, ironic as my mother is a paster so you can assume how pleased she is with me, but my partners and I have rules that are kept and honored so that we keep a healthy communication open, of course sometimes we all get jealous but talking about it and honoring each other's boundaries and opinions are what help keep the relationship extremely healthy.

Hi Alyx! Huge fan here. I normally don’t comment on things but the non-monogamy bit hit home! My husband and I have been ethically non-monogamous since 2016. Neither of us have ever slept with individuals, but that doesn’t mean we won’t in the future. It’s been one of the BEST things in our relationship. There’s so much honesty and communication that I honestly don’t harbor a lot of negative feelings like jealousy. Him and I are both allowed to explore emotional connections with other individuals (and physical if we want) and it is so nice to not have to worry about the guilt associated with being close with other people. Idk, I’ve seen a lot of my strict monogamous friends be miserable or have a lack of communication in the relationship… and I just don’t experience those things. It’s not for everyone but if you’re thinking about it, definitely give it a go. :)

I have a friend at school who lives in a country area and collect animals bones (from the creatures that die of natural causes-he doesn’t kill them!).
