Check out the Amazon affiliate link below for this heater. I see the price is now $109 as of 1/18/24, but I think that's still fairly decent for this unit. Affiliate links can provide the channel a commission if links are used to purchase, but at no additional cost to you.

I'm in a similar position as you. I only have one but so far I've mounted and connected two Ryobi 18V 4Ah batteries ran through a step down converter to bring the 18V down to 12V for the heater. Using two batteries connected that way you can swap them out one at a time without having to turn the heater off. I've just ordered some more spare parts and some supposed "improved" parts plus another heater altogether. They're fun, they're simple, easy to work on, easy to modify, very inexpensive and they work very well. I don't even have a real "need" for one. I ordered one because it was $109 and I'd been seeing a lot of videos about them. Now that I have one, I love it! I just love that such a small inexpensive heater can work efficiently and powerfully. I can think of so many uses for them around the house, garage and camping.

I love these little diesel heaters, as well. I have mine set up with XT30 cable ends and have a 20-amp inline fuse between the heater and the 240ah LFP battery I'm using in my wife's she-shed. The heater is outside of the building, with the heating hose plumbed into the shed through a clothes dryer vent. It's amazing how well it works and how little fuel it uses.

Fit a fuse at the battery end of the +ve wire, and a switch to protect you battery. I got mine new last week from a guy who bought it to put in his van, then crashed the van. I put my fuel-line directly from the base into the 10L jerry can lid, with one of those tiddly stone-filters near the bottom, then a larger paper lawnmower filter just before the pump. I also fitted a paper combustion-air filter. Some folk put a 3" bi-conical filter on the cool air inlet where they have a dusty shop. I love being warm at my PC without heating the whole house.

We recommend attaching a 12volt car battery eg 55amps as in the event of the mains electricity failure it will mess up the Mother Board and yes we keep a small car charger connected to the battery. at all all times and the charger will switch off once the battery reaches its full charge likewise we have now fitted these heaters into our ambulances connected to the back up battery. NB we use only home heating oil and we don't use waste engine oil at all. as the carbon will build up in the chamber.

The biggest mistake people make is when priming the heater.. They over prime as they see air in the fuel line that goes into the burn chamber underneath, well even when fully primed there is always air in the line no matter what you do. If you have white smoke at start up you have iver primed the heater..

That's not a 'big mistake', it's just a miscalculation. What will happen is that you'll have stinky smoke coming out for a while. A big mistake would be to disconnect it from the energy source without it going through its cooldown cycle. Another big mistake would be not to buy one of these 🙂

I’ve watched your other videos and that one is significantly quieter. I can see a diesel heater being useful as an emergency heat source during a winter power outage. Set it outside a bedroom window and run it through. Fill the gap with towels. 5 gallons could probably last 4-5 days. It would obviously only heat that small room but that’s enough to keep you alive

I've had mine a bit over a year now, same as that one. It's been said before, but... The hole saw is meant to knock a hole in the floor of your cab. These heaters are essentially a knock off of the Wabasto heater that was meant for use in semis and RVs who's patent recently expired (which is why these are all over the place now!). Whatever hose you're using using on the discharge, remember that the air will hit nearly 200C right at the discharge - so no plasticy stuff. If you want to use it as a shop (etc) heater, find the video of the guy who repurposed an old cast iron radiator. It uses the exhaust heat to radiate it as 'free' heating! Took the exhaust temps at discharge down to about 35* as well as a bonus.

I don't care for the high temp of the exhaust going thru the wall outdoors right away. I think that capturing some of the heat off of the tubing would be more efficient and cool the tube down before going thru the wall, which would be another benefit. Making alot of bends in the tubing will be too restrictive, so I'll make a large coil out of it inside a metal container with a fan at one end. That should throw some heat and cool the exhaust pipe down a bit. May as well get all the heat out of it instead of just half.

I wonder how many btus giant bugs make? Seriously though, I have one of these pumping heat into my sun room that gets really cold. One one hand it sucks that it needs a battery to make sure it won't shut off without cooling down. On the other hand it means it will work if the power goes out. I have been considering getting more so I can have zone heating for 100 bucks a zone. They could all be piped into a single fuel oil tank.

@GearGadgetReviews yea that's what I thought. I tried to run it on a bluetti eb3a last weekend and it was shutting off on start up at 100ish watts so I connected it my truck battery and just kept an eye on the volts on the heater app. I was thinking about using a 30ah lawn tractor battery I have laying around but thought that the lipo battery would be a little bit better. How do u like the power queen battery?
