I am also seeing some videos that you can run these off used motor oil just fine. People are even running it unfiltered, but I would likely filter it through an old pair of jeans I have seen people do for running it in their trucks when cut 50/50 with fresh fuel.
@TheWickerShireProject
@TheWickerShireProject 4 ай бұрын
Used oil we just use a basic filter then drop in a little gas for a biodiesel viscosity and higher , cleaner burn. Dirtier the fuel more often you break it down, open it all up and give a good clean.

Man your whole demeanor is just so wholesome sometimes, like when you showed us the fuse and said "dont laugh some guys were never shown or learned this", as well as "proho is not good at a few things like some maths and electronic sort of things", and I truly felt that in my soul and was able to even laugh at myself a bit when I'm typically pretty embarassed and ashamed about stuff like that. I guess I sort of was raised by a single mother now that I think of it because my abusive alcoholic father was always working but my mom taught me more than he ever did. Shes gone now (passed in '18 when my firstborn was 6 months old) but at least there's channels like yours that can help teach young men like myself and many others I'm sure who are also alone in this world.

I'm 62 years old and have spent my life in the electrical and mechanical trades. I don't think I've ever seen a diesel heater like the one in the video. While the video was playing, I went to Amazon and put one in my shopping cart. Second thing I learned, is the "Anderson" connector. I've seen them, used them, but never knew the proper name for them. That's why I watch videos like yours. You can still teach old dogs new things. Thanks!

you can run these on waste or veg oil if you rig up a second tank and fuel selector. You have to get it up to temp on diesel or kerosene. Then shut it down on the same. Ive been using one in a small shed on my property. it works great to quickly get the space warmed up while i get a fire going. Plus just keeping some heat going to keep my water storage from freezing.

I'm currently in the midst of setting up one of these units. I encountered a minor issue with my portable battery, which has a 10-amp power protection feature that activates during startup, as the unit seems to draw slightly more than 10 amps initially. To resolve this, I've switched to using an AC to DC converter connected to a backup battery for power. As an alternative, I'm considering the use of an affordable AGM battery connected to a charger for portability. It's also important to note that these units are sensitive to power interruptions and can be damaged if they lose power abruptly without a proper shutdown. To help with the transfer of diesel into these tanks, I've bought a battery-operated pump that screws into the lid of my gas can.

Excellent video as always. Reminded me of the diesel heater experiment videos I've been making for years: my favorite being a waste heat thermal recovery on the exhaust using an old large cast iron steam heating radiator. By the time the exhaust passes through the radiator and to the outside it has dumped almost all its heat and is just warm steam laden air basically. Works a treat, also with generators as well-silences their exhaust as well as a side benefit. You can cook food and heat water on the radiator near where the exhaust from the diesel heater enters, it can get 400°f. Also it's a heat battery due to its large mass, and retains value as scrap, although i'm on winter #3 of heating my garage with a diesel heater hooked to a steam radiator with zero issues over thousands of hours of operation.

You do need to do a few things to make it work. First I had to drop voltage from 18v to 12v with a 24->12 converter then cause you don’t want the heater to kill your lipo batteries I installed a little voltage thing that when the voltage drops to a preset level I have it turn the fuel pump off and when that happens the heater goes into shut down/cool down mode. This way protects the heater and batteries.

Cody: If/when you do a followup, don't forget to mention the importance of maintenance. People I know with these swear by them but do say you have to clean them extremely regularly to prevent soot buildup in the chamber and exhaust line that can lead to operation or ventilation failure (so when they're camping they check/clean the exhaust line daily for obstructions.) People who are used to propane, kerosene, or white gas heaters might not really understand how...less clean...burning diesel can be.

A small spring type deal with the fuel line through it, the ID of spring sleeve almost the same as OD of fuel line would stop it kinking. And keep the fresh air intake, inside so you get more heat rather than introducing frigid air. Folks also run the exhaust through a heat exchanger.

Careful brothers. I haven't watched yet, and I'm a big Cody fan, so that counts for a lot with me..BUT.. My buddy has this identical one with a different brand label, and his had Numerous issues. I looked up his, and this one, and others that look identical, and the complaints are off the chart. I have learned the hard way to ignore the good reviews and to focus on the bad ones that actually tell the story..and I have learned that anything over a few % of #1 votes is reason to be skeptical if not leave alone..and even just his one here has 16% #1 votes! That's insane from my experience. I've been looking to buy one and have numerous tabs open trying to narrow down which one to get..I don't think this is the one, but I'll watch the video because I trust Cody immensely..just sayin', be careful.🤷‍♂
