Despite claiming last year that the famous McRib was being discontinued (and that it was on a "farewell tour") guess what's back again for a limited time? My entire worldview has been shattered by this news and the only thing I can do at this point is try it out, and see how good the McRib is this time.

I once ordered a McRib and requested extra onions. As soon as I was given my order, I forgot to check to the bag to make sure it was correct. When I got home and opened the wrapping, to my astonishment, the McRib was void of any onions. That was the most traumatizing experience I ever had.

You have to be very clear when you order and also double check at the paying window and ask again at the pickup window . I never drive away until I'm sure I have everything I ordered. Just a few days ago I got only one pie when I had ordered two and paid for two. So I told them and gave them the bag back, then I checked again before I left. It only takes a few seconds and you dont get any surprises . Theyre not the brightest crowd and they dont love their jobs, so they can be careless sometimes .

Loved the dry humor in the intro! 😆 As someone who has worked in multiple fast food kitchens, here's why the food is so inconsistent in quality. The franchise wants the store to follow the same procedures for quality assurance, but individual stores often end up cutting corners, usually to save on food waste. If you ever get a dry burger or chicken what's happened is it's been held hot for too long. At McDonald's they have warming trays to hold the cooked product with timers on them, but we were consistently told to just restart the timers instead of discarding the unsold product because of overhead. You have to understand that when a manager tosses a tray of burger patties, that costs corporate nothing. It's the franchise owner that pays for everything themselves while cutting the CEO's a check whether they profit or not. Owning a franchised restaurant sucks unless you own multiple stores. This is why Quizno's went out of business altogether and Subway isn't far behind. So, the crew gets told to keep a certain number of pieces ready for service, but if they don't sell to just reset the timers and hold them over. So, that explains the dry, flavorless meat thing on your bun. Also, as for runny sauce I can confirm that when McRib rolls out, we didn't always get enough sauce to pair with the patties. So, I have seen sauce jugs watered down, shaken, and then used to stretch the product out. The pickles on the other hand have always been floppy and relatively tasteless at McDonald's. Bojangle's, Popeye's, and Chik-fil-A get crisper and tastier pickles from their distributors. But then again, a franchised restaurant doesn't have the authority to order different ingredients at all. So, whatever the suits decide on is what you are forced to serve, whether it sucks or not. Sorry if this was too long, but I worked for a good while in food service so I happen to know a lot of the uglier details of the business from experience both in large and smaller chains.
@peepawfart
@peepawfart 9 ай бұрын
yupp this exactly!!! The owners always tell us to stick to the timers but EVERY TIME we try its a disaster. Literally. I swear the owners have not worked an actual day of fast food in their lives. "you arent allowed to cook more than 6 patties at a time, and you are not allowed to store them more than 15 minutes, but i'm going to yell at your table for getting backed up because for some godawful reason I wont allow you to cook more patties during 5pm rush hour. Also you cant strore quarters because they are cook to order so if you store them you are fired, but also I'm going to write you up because we keep waiting for quarter and youre taking too long. Why are we waiting on sandwhiches?? what do you mean your 6 patty limit isnt enough to cover this 12 mcdouble order?? youre driving up my times!! You can't store more than 4 crispy patties. Throw the extra away. Uh oh it looks like 5 crispies appeared on screen!!! What do you mean its a 6 minute wait on crispy?!?!??! why didnt you know we needed crispy 15 minutes before they were ordered??!!? hey btw you cant actually cook product ahead of time so I'm going to write you up for that"

Interesting. One nice part about doing an OMAD diet is I'll go to a fast food place at like 10:45-11:00am and beat the traffic, but the manager and a full staff are usually there. What is it like at McDonald's during the change from breakfast to lunch? Is it annoying when customers come in exactly at the time change? Is it preferred I order breakfast at 10:29am or lunch at 10:31am?
@brianlawson3757
@brianlawson3757 9 ай бұрын
@Timpaaaalmer The transition from breakfast to lunch is hectic even at a slow location. What's left of the breakfast items are either being sold or scrapped while every single item for lunch is being cooked all at once. Without fail, someone in drive thru will demand biscuits five minutes after change. It was frustrating because there is no break between in the flow of customers between the two completely different menus. Even with a full crew it's chaotic. I haven't been to a McDonald's in years, so I don't know what time they change over now. But, if you want breakfast, be there a half hour beforehand and if you want lunch, go about fifteen minutes after. The first run of meats for lunch will probably be held past their times and won't be so great.

@@brianlawson3757 Thank you! Fast food was always too intimidating for me for those reasons, so I stuck with retail and grocery stores stocking shelves usually late night. That is very dull and lonely, but avoids dealing with poison pill customers and chaos. This is true, except it is so true that it's also true about every single kitchen and virtually every single dish. I did about a decade in the food industry before I got out, and that's the story of it all. Fast Food especially, since you don't really have well paid workers back there who give a lot of fucks about producing quality food. The whole thing is rushed from start to finish and a lot of variables are in play, even before you put the order out there. Like whether or not the employee will actually take the time to clean the grill or just throw some beef patty down on literal bacon grease.

I agree 100%!! it is a great improvement from years past! I work in the kitchen at a McDonalds. The kids in the restaurant seem to think the bun ingredients have changed. As for the sauce, it is very thick when it is cooked in the beginning. It thins out if the patties are not drained of the fat, sad to say. I make sure there is enough sauce to coat the patty completely. For the pickles, you may want to try the sandwich with the crinkle cut pickles. The crinkles are used on the premium McCrispy sandwiches and have a slight garlic flavor; they are Kosher pickles. The ones for the McRib are the same pickles used on the regular sandwiches. They are called "Table Pickles." Again, I am glad you liked it!!! Have a great day!!!!
