Elvis was only in his 40’s, and he was dying-he was so so sick. Drugs were actually ruled out as a cause of death-he truly was extremely ill, but my god what a performance. This brings me to tears every time.

Meatloaf and Pavarotti have delivered spectacular tenor performances with their soul but Elvis is on another level. Nobody can touch that performance. He eclipses Michael Jackson and Prince as a stage artist. Simply put Elvis will always be the King.

I've cried to this song lots of times, but this time I cried because of your reaction to this moment. It was just six weeks before he past away. He was really sick, but his voice never failed him. It's powerful. He would have been 88 years of age yesterday. The sky took him too soon. I've seen his poor daughter Lisa Marie make a little speech for his birthday outside of what was their home, Graceland. Lisa lost her father at only nine years old and it's just the saddest tragedy. Elvis never believed he would be remembered and struggled a lot with that. We can only hope he knows how much he affected this world after he left. Discovering and watching Elvis, learning about him today, is keeping this man and his gift alive. I listened to Elvis back in high school, but it's only this past year at age 26 I got into his life story and went down the same road you are walking right now. Honoured to share this journey. I remember watching this concert on tv after Elvis passed away. I was 14. It was on CBS back then. Elvis was 42. This was 6 weeks before Elvis passed away. His voice never failed. It just got better and better as he got older. I can only imagine what he would be like now. I cried through the whole concert 😭. 💔🌹

The Righteous Brothers were the original artists. Elvis did cover it, obviously lol, and included it on one of his albums. I was fortunate to see him in concert twice. His presence made everyone feel like they were in the presence of Royalty. He was unbelievably incredible and TRULY the King.

1:58 He's only three or four years older than a lot of the stuff you've reacted to from him, in Vegas and in Hawaii, but he had had some health issues and also they just had him on so many drugs by then, to put them to sleep to wake him up to get him to the show. And it's a shame they didn't really need to do that, but it's a highly controversial subject. But anyway, a lot of what you're seeing here he's not as lost as he sounds, he's a little bit high, but of course all that goes away whenever he starts singing, but I think he had just done a really strenuous number right before this and he was buying time to get his breath back, and a lot of that was meant kind of as humor, mostly within the band but to anyone in the audience that was familiar. And you notice it takes him awhile for his breathing to calm down but strangely, when he starts to hit the first really hard part in the song, vocally, suddenly breath is no longer an issue for him and he's got this incredible breath control and long phrasing with Incredible nuance. This is just weeks before he died, and it's just so poignant knowing what is about to happen, but everything I have seen from this show, and I don't think I've seen all of it but I've seen a whole bunch of it, to me just tells me that he was becoming more and more masterful of a singer literally right up until the day he died. His singing in this show to me is shockingly more advanced than it was with the stuff we see from 1973 in Hawaii just four years before. Blows me away.

It is such a touching performance, and then your reaction in turn made my allergies act up. Everything about it is great, and near the end he says hit me with it and the band starts edging in to provide this wonderful finish as he picks up his piano playing. Meanwhile he's almost turning into an opera singer for the final part of that song. It's such a poignant performance.

In addition to being overworked over the last years of his life - thanks to the requirements of the Vegas residency, and grueling tour schedule & contractual agreements for new releases, Elvis had a poor diet, sleep habits and was extremely over-medicated. Theories of hereditary issues that many fans claim have yet to be confirmed. In the last eight months alone that Elvis was alive, George Nichopoulos (Elvis's doctor since 1967) prescribed over 10,000 doses of amphetamines, barbiturates, narcotics, tranquilizers, sleeping pills, laxatives and hormones to the star. But the pills had been an issue since much earlier and eventually the cycle of addiction caught up and overwhelmed him. We continue to celebrate Elvis not only because of his great music and performances, but also because he was a generous, kind-hearted man who never forgot where he came from and deeply cared about others. That's the most important way to remember him.

Jane H commenting ….. I find this so hard to watch, & I always end up crying, knowing how much Elvis was struggling health wise. He was short of breath, yet he still managed to do a spellbinding performance & that voice was so powerful. His final performance before passing away just 8 weeks later. My dear Elvis, you thought you would be forgotten. How very wrong you were. 47 years since you left us, but you are still loved so much, & a whole new generation is re-discovering you & enjoying your music. You won’t ever be forgotten. This was the Righteous Brothers song, but Elvis did a recording of it, which they would have been pleased about, as they would have got the royalties off every record of Elvis’ that sold, & that would have been a Lot. Elvis usually contacted singers when he wanted to record their songs, & I imagine they were happy about that, because Elvis sold more records than any other singer.

As the many comments, have informed you, this performance is few weeks, before he died. You should really, see the biopic movie with Austin Butler, playing the role of Elvis (recent movie, no other version) Elvis's daughter, Lisa Marie Presley, supported this version, and she supported Austin's likeness to Elvis. The movie explains how Elvis's talent's we're exploited & his manager & father, knowingly & purposefully got him hooked on drugs for their own greed. In this video, the years of drugs had taken a toll on him, which is noticeable in this video. The true & tragic story of The King, is the same sad story of many of the performers of today. God Bless You, for taking the time, to hear music of yesteryear. Elvis is very versatile, and plays all genres of music. Elvis is a white "black man." He opened the music & performance doors for all, but especially for black musicians. Many of his band members & back up singers were black. He once was to perform at a sports arena, in front of thousands, the arena owner informed him all black performers were to enter through the back door. Elvis refused, said all of the performers were going to enter together through the front door or he wasn't entering. Needless to say, they entered together through the front gates.

There was an audible intake of breath in the theatre when the shot cut to the real Elvis and not Austin Butler . That’s when I cried !!! He was gone a few short weeks later . He knew how sick he was and coming to an end but wanted to go out doing what he loved.

I so remember this performance and cried all the way through. Weeks later he was gone. He was not old only 41 and if you think this was just 4 years after his amazing performance Aloha from Hawai which was broadcast by satellite across the world it is astounding and heartbreaking that his health deteriorated so far in just 4 years. His last performance I struggle to watch now as I still find it heartbreaking.

My mom went to this concert. It was 50 miles from where we lived. I remember when they built the civic center and this was the first concert performed there. A few months later we were in Denver visiting family when he died. The bells of the churches started ringing throughout the city. Sad day
