He was grinning, the grin I love so much, the one that could drown me in butterflies, the one made for me and me only. He pulled me into him, gently wrapping his arms around me as if I was something so fragile. We stood there for minutes that seemed to last forever. "Thank you." He whispered in my ear, his hot breath tickling the back of my neck. "For?" I frowned, laying my head on his shoulder. "For the memories." He pulled away, his beautiful smile replaced with sorrow. "Please don't go. I'll forget you." I reached for him, but he stepped back. I felt the warm tears drip from my face. "Listen to these songs and the memory of each other will never cease." I closed my eyes for a brief moment, and when I opened them, I was in my room. I got off the bed, using my cane to walk to a shelf. I put a disc on the recordplayer, and played our songs. The ones that felt destined for us, and us only. The ones we listened to when we danced alone, in the moonlight. As the songs played, i returned to my bed, laying down to stare at the ceiling. I had maybe only a few weeks, but hopefully they went away fast so i can see him again. Him and that beautiful smile that I could never forget. I closed me eyes, and when I opened them, he was there, his hair swept back, his hands gloved, dressed in a beautiful tuxedo. I moved forward slowly, as if expecting the effects of old age would still affect me, even in the afterlife. But i felt light, just like when we would dance, and he would hold me in the air. I ran to him, and we embraced. The embrace you would give someone when you haven't seen them in decades. And then our songs played, and I was in my dress. I looked around and what I saw was our room we spent countless nights dancing in. "Well?" He reached his hand out and I did not hesitate to take it.
