That's the question I asked myself when I was struggling with loving myself and seeing the value and beauty within myself.
I've changed the name of the podcast because I have work to do. I have a whole person to be and become and I'm afraid. I'm afraid of rejection and falling into oblivion, but what I want more than anything else is to be at home with myself and love myself well.

Your voice is so soothing!! We will figure it out together. At 45 or so I decided to resign from the VA as a Registered nurse because the pandemic had worn me out. Now at 47, trying to get back into healthcare and believe it or not it’s not as easy as it used to be. Rejection after rejection denial after denial. And now it’s getting a little scary. As I draw from my retirement and get penalized every time. Sigh. It’s also been freeing to sleep late, to go to jazz festivals, to walk and exercise, to volunteer (I love it) but also I know I need to get back to work. Sigh. So I hear you. I see you. I validate you. ❤❤

Why not use your name sistah? first, your name is beautiful, and second, your soul is beautiful. I believe that the urge to make this change is timely, because you are about to hit a growth spurt again, and this will allow further reach of healing words. We love you and this was a great move. Frankly, I don't think you are complicated, just simply more complex than they are ready for. They will catch up. You will not fade. So wonderful to find this so early, thank you.

Also, Alecia Renece is a whole inspiration for me and thousands of other people so keep that in mind the next time that question comes up 💛 Actually editing this because I feel like saying you're an inspiration may add unnecessary pressure. Let's just say I'm looking forward to unfiltered Alecia shining at full wattage because you share so many messages that resonate with me and thousands of other people. Loving myself while being hated by everyone else sounds impossible to me given that so much of who I've been and continue to be in this world is a result of me anticipating how other people may view or perceive me. You also got me thinking about the fact that our ancestors had no choice but to love themselves despite being hated for simply existing or fall victim to the self hatred that many of us are all too familiar with. How powerful would it be for us to fully embody the essence of ourselves regardless of what the world may say? How liberating for us and what a way to honor those that came before us. I totally get it and can relate. There is no other title that is more freeing than our own name. For many years I went by a shorter version of my first name for several reasons, but after a while I realized that that represented only a fraction of me. But my whole name represents my past, my present and my future and everything that comes with it. I now show up as Lakeia and all of the beautiful things without limits.

I just had to comment because I love your work, you inspire me and remind me that I can be myself even in our capitalistic world. Thank you for everything. I also thought I would share that I am a recent marketing student graduate and want to work to empower people to have a more liberation focus on social media.
