This looked like so much fun. You speak English great. I was hoping since most Germans probably also speak English, maybe you could do you KZfaq videos in English as well. I know it will up your sub count for sure. Plenty of us rev heads around the world who unfortunately never had the environment to learn multiple languages as a kid, and are too old to do it now. Either way, thanks for lending Kyle your E-UP! and best of luck with your KZfaq channel. I'll just use auto generated subtitles in the mean time. Here's hoping they are sort of accurate LOL. Really would love to see more electric hatchbacks like this and the iD.3 in America. It seems like everything is trending towards America's EVs being all crossovers and SUVs, with a few sedans in the mix.

The power limit is appalling in the "new" e-up. I have driven about 30 thousand km in the old (with the "small" accumulator) as well as over 30 thousand km in the "new" e-up (like in the video). The old e-up, the one with half the capacity in the traction accumulator, was much much better. It kept delivering full power for a much longer time. The old e-up has in fact a higher voltage of the traction accumulator, so to deliver the same power, less current (=heat) is needed. This also applies when charging. I see you were driving when the temperature outside was 13 °C. Try to connect this new e-up to a CCS DC fast charger and connect an old one as well. You will be amazed by the charging performance of the old one. Yes, it has half the range, but the accumulators can deliver more power (due to higher voltage of the pack) and also charge much faster, even in cold weather. The old accumulator was made of 17 modules, the new one has only 14 modules, so its voltage is 82% of the old one. And I think that the rest of the car (wires, inverter, fuses, etc.) was not modified to the lower voltage, which explains the rapid fall of power when the accumulator is at 90% SOC, because the voltage at the SOC is lower than on the old e-up with a SOC of 20%. If I were to invest in an e-up for driving around the Nürnburg Ring, I would choose the old one and do some software tweaks in order to disable the speed limiter, which cuts off power when an indicated speed of 135 km/h is reached. I did the calculations, based on the maximum RPM of the motor and the e-up should theoretically do 159,66 km/h (at least on my summer tires which I had at that time). The values used for calculating: Circumference of wheels 1,81 m (summer tires), gear box ratio: 1,577, differential ratio: 5,176. The electric motor is designed to be able to handle 12000 RPM. So the technical maximum speed is almost 160 km/h. But the car could drive that fast only for limited time, I expect that the motor/inverter/traction accumulator would overheat after a couple of minutes at that speed. The maximum torque of the electric motor is 210 Nm at 2800 RPM, which translates to a speed of 37 km/h. This matches my observations, the e-up accelerates best between 25 and 50 km/h. I had no trouble to loose traction on dry asphalt when I floored it at 30 km/h, especially when leaving bends, the wheel at the inner side of the radius was prone to spin. But even when driving straight, I often got wheel-spin. Especially with the old e-up. The new one is "lazy" in comparison.

I have the new e-up and that's shocking to hear, the old one is EVEN quicker? I'm already beating 250hp-300hp cars off the line lol, can't imagine the old one

@@Twin.motors It is not quicker, but it accelerates much better. Especially in cold weather. Also, the old e-up would certainly not lose power that fast as we observed in the video. They had about 25% SOC and outside temp was 13°C. The old e-up might have taken away one power bar, maybe two (temrporarily). But the new one dropped below 5 and practically had only 60% of its full power, as they floored it, but the needle did not climb above 60% near the end of the video. I do not think that turning off the AC (which was actually heating because it was colder outside) would make a big difference. I am 100% sure that the old eup with stock rims, stock shocks, stock suspension, etc. would have beaten the e-up in the video. Both would have driven no more than 135 km/h, but the old one would not get out of breath, either at all, or as fast as the new e-up.

@@JPetr94 The old traction accumulator was 102S2P, using 25Ah cells from Sanyo/Panasonic. Chemistry NCM/LMO hybrid cathode. Each call had a nominal voltage of 3,67V, so the whole traction accumulator has 374V nominal. The new battery pack uses LG Chem, chemistry NCM 622 cells and is 84S2P and nominal Voltage 308V. This pretty much explains why the new e-up is what it is. While the old one charged faster even at low temperatrues and did not suffer from rapidgate, the new one charges extremly slow and only with an outside temperature of 30 °C it charges halfway decently. But in winter it is a pain in the rear.

The E UP isin the Top ten for EV Sales in Germany for a Long time, even in June 2022. ist is a very pratical City Car and even useful for littel roadtrips. When i moved to Hamburg my Cars going to be smalller From Passat to Golf to Polo to Lupo. Which was the littel VW car befote the UP! With 90 PS i loved it,

Great video! To all who want to order this car I have good news: VW announced that the e-up! will remain in production until 2025, when it will be succeeded by the ID.2. Currently it's removed from the configurator because of the backlog, but it will return. No need to cry 😜

For the E-Up you need good tires because when the slightest wheelspin occurs the TCS cuts of almost all the power.

I don't think you would need to: it's a city car. Batteries would run out before any real need fort cooling. A lap ate 1/4 of the range.

As a up! owner, I wouldn't mind switching to an e-up! but unfortunately it's just not affordable. If I'm going to shell out that kind of money, I'd rather buy a 2 year old Mazda MX-5 ND.

I think you will have a big problem with the battery due to the lowered suspension. Now you have a big risk that something will hit the plastic cover under the battery. compartiment.

@@catinthehat5140 That's a steep price but the track is legendary so I guess they can command whatever the demand will pay. Would be a lot of fun to just race around in though without any of the additional protective gear. If you are a little bit of a risk taker.

these (and the Seat and Skoda rebadges) cost about £20k in the UK, they were perpetually out of stock and then VW canned it after ramping up the ID3, recently they went "oh shit" and relaunched this in the higher trim for like £26k, but no more seat and skoda version

So funny, my actual car, E-Up! Vs my previous car Opel Astra. The E-Up! has so much torque at the wheel 🛞 (210nM) that the summer tires where losing grip at the green light, i now use winter tires yearlong, the softer rubber solves the grip problem and I get crushed in my seat 💺 now 😉
