The truth of this story is, that Santos loves Venus and Venus loves him right back. The couple has been together for 21 years and might pass for what everyone would call, "Couple Goals".
But the other truth is, Venus has packed 12 times ready to leave her husband, and even served him divorce papers twice. On the other hand, Santos has drunk and slept outside only to walk home in the morning and have his young daughter open the door for him only to ask, "Daddy, where are you coming from".
So, how has their marriage survived the test of time?
Why would Venus fast and pray for her husband for 15 years and why did Santos decide to fight so hard for his wife and children?
Let's all find out together on this episode of LNS

Wow! I have learnt a lot today. I was once a victim in a toxic marriage and the partner was not willing to change even after trying every way possible to work things out🤔 I had to quit and even forgot everything about the past marriage 💪 I am happy and proud to say today that after moving on, good things came into my way👏👏 I have a wonderful wife ,handsome son, have a good paying job and many projects that were stuck by then are now complete and others are still going on. I really thank God. There is no more stress,drama,ulcers. What a blessing of a perfect family from the Creator❤️❤️❤️❤️

This was a wonderful conversation. my take home.... 1. pray, pray, pray. 2. Don't lose yourself in marriage, love n build yourself as much as you can. 3. Don't be quick to pack... answers to prayers take time. 4. The devil is not happy with a successful marriage, he will try to steal, kill and destroy. Refuse, God has provided a life in abundance for all of us. 5. Ask for help, don't die alone. 6. Communication is key. 7. Read number 2 Thrice.

I have a friend whose wife left him 17 times, going back to her parents. (She secretly told me this story - not him - after my wife had left me for the second time). Each time he went back for her. When she took off the 18th time and he went for her, her mother told her: "if you leave him again do not come back here." The lady was ultimately very grateful for the advice and especially that her man had gone back for her again and again and not given up. AT the time in the 17th year of their marriage, she was advising me not to give up - which I had done as a man fed-up after 10 years of marriage. They remain happily married and to watch them lovey-dovey you couldn't believe all that had taken place.

As a parent you do not chase away your children when they come back to you, first just welcome them embrace them and give them a safe space until they are ready to talk or ready to go back. 2. She calls the so called friends who were ready to help her with money to sort her divorce as not a friend. This lady made her decision to leave she filed for divorce and she did not have the money and a friend was there for her... how then do you call the same person not a true friend???? Beautiful story there… As you pray for a husband, pray and wait for one who is ready to become a husband not just one that wants a wife. After and while praying, WAIT! The art of waiting not just praying is something that has been lost by our generation. Waiting! Yes he might be the one, even God may say he is the one. But more than just getting married, you must not marry him until God thoroughly trains him on becoming a good husband, leader, a good father and priest of your home!! Amos 3:3, shall two walk together except they agree….. life is too short to spend 12years of it praying for character change. Meanwhile, Lynn Ngugi and Zulu are such a blessing to this generation ❤️ listening to their wisdom will bless you

In my opinion. I think you both started not at the right place. If you had done the ndoa counseling to prepare you for marriage. Maybe you would not have gone to your home 12 times. I also believe, God would not direct you to sin by yoking yourself with someone who is not a believer. Lastly, I do not support parents sending back their daughters when they come back home just because there was a big wedding. I am happy that your marriage is working but let us not glorify some things in the name of being real. Some things are just mistakes that we should avoid as believers. It is a great talk because a lot of marriages are in these kind of situations but for those who have not yet gotten in this institution. Just avoid some things.

Why does marriage in an African context feel like the guy living his best life and the woman hurting everyday. A lot of women come out of these marriage with terrible diseases, I feel like a lot of his bad behaviours was hidden or put out as domestics. I would never want my daughter to sacrifice her life for a man hoping that he’ll change. I’m happy that she’s happy but these are the marriages that are making women suicidal.

Very true and good observation. But am glad that more and more Kenyan men are changing and have seen a need to change that narrative, which is good for future generations. There's hope for Kenyan marriages, and I hear your concerns, there's no way am going to allow someone's child to marry or be married to my child and I've spent time and resources allowing God to teach me to bring up my child in a Godly way while you checked out of your child's life never teaching your child as I did.

As much as I appreciate their vulnerability, I see alot of glorified red flags only for her to brand them religious names. I don't get how she calmly say that infidelity is "part"of marriage struggles. The moment she said that a friend offered to help her when she wanted to seek legal council only for her to castigate her and call her names yet she is the one who sought help. You were gaslit to think in a certain way, and just because you do, doesn't make it true / correct. So many red flags but she's trying so hard to turn them green.

Thanks so much for bringing this couple Lynn. The more that they speak, the more I am nodding my head because everything they are saying is so true! Don't leave 80% for 20%. Marriage requires someone to always be working on the relationship's survival. Even the temptation of affairs. The husband saying that when she shines, I shine too made my heart melt. Where are men like this? This is an amazing one. One of my best apart from that other couple that was on the show a few weeks ago.

This story… First, not all marriages have this degree of drama. Biggest red flag was her marrying someone, clearly knowing his lifestyle but hoping to change him. Two, her father sending her back home is nothing to laugh about. Luckily there was no physical abuse involved. Three, all I hear is an emotionally immature young bride that threw tantrums in various ways trying to elicit a reaction from her husband. The two were incompatible from the very start. A major component in any marriage. In my opinion the only thing that saved this marriage was the husband’s calm nature. I’ve been married over twenty years and as a woman even I got exhausted listening to her drama back then. Yes he had issues but, she married someone who did not uphold anything she stood for, then proceeded to blame him for not living up to her standards. I also cannot agree with the idea of encouraging women to spend years of their married lives miserable, praying that someone will change. Meanwhile your own life is passing you by. Marriage should be harmonious from beginning to end, even with day to day life challenges. But choose compatible partners. Finally, regarding man caves… they need it. Let them retreat from time to time and leave them alone. Women, occupy your time with other things in the meantime. He will eventually come out mentally ready to engage.

You nailed it. My opinion is that, she's selfish and a control freak. The majority of men hate conflict and confrontation especially with a woman. Man cave is our only safe heaven at that point. She even tries to pull him from his man cave.
@hellespont1
@hellespont1 Жыл бұрын
@@Impossibly_gorgeous women already have those spaces through their circles of friends which every woman does... That is her woman cave. Men don't normally confide on emotive issues with their comrades and use man cave to weather the storms of personal issues...he needs that space to resolve the happenings within himself before sorting it with the spouse. Anyone who cares about him should let him deal with issues internally until when he is ready... It's similar to asking a woman not to talk to her circle of friends yet thst is her system to weather the storms. Pointing fingers solves nothing.. Understanding is everything. Men and women are different with different needs and behavioral patterns. In the same way you think having a man cage is being treated with kids glove is the same way men think need for constant attention by women is being petty... Appreciating each others differences is the solution

No thanks. Women, let's work on self love, self worth, self awareness and maybe these trauma bonds will not be passed down to the younger generation.🥶. I am very curious about whether the kids are going for therapy and especially the girl children, what's their perception of marriage ?

There is no formula in marriage. The only formula is Gods. To me I take it as a privilege to be commanded by God to love and submit to my spouse. Everytime I do right I get to me proud of myself. Yes I do make mistakes but marriage provides us a platform of many second chances to make it right. It is a privilege and an honour for me to love and respect my spouse. Everytime I do good I feel like God is saying ' I'm proud of you'. If I fail I still do have a chance to make it right. It's a great privilege to be in this union having to present such great representative that is Christ and the Church.

Oh no baby this ain’t it ! Struggle love should not be worn as a badge of honor ! We need to stop glamorizing struggle love . Women , esp African women have been groomed to go through the fire , to the limit , pushed to the wall , being dragged through the mud by their men just to prove their love in the relationship. Men expect their women to put up with things they know very well they wouldn’t put up with if they were in that position. The amount of times a male will cheat on his woman and then pray and beg for her to stick around and work through the pain and stay with him . If the script was flipped , would your partner have endured that pain and stayed as well ? Yes love can be hard , but it’s not meant to be difficult. Same way it’s meant to be simple but it’s not always easy . Stay away from relationships that keep on attacking your peace . Love isn’t a constant battle . We need to raise our kids to know better ! I wouldn’t want my kids to see me going back and forth all those times in the name of fighting for my marriage . No no !

I know many daughters whose fathers know them to be spoilt brats. Not all are but many are. One woman was leaving her husband because her best friend's husband had bought her best friend a VW GTI. This first woman had a Toyota saloon which her husband had bought her from showroom "firsthand" just shortly before and she got filled with jealousy. She did not talk to her husband for two months until he bought her a GTI too. That is a spoilt brat and there are many, many, many spoilt brat stories.

@@lifewithtshidiedza381 a good percentage of parents in modern Africa value their daughters and will not tolerate them being physically abused. But if your daughter feels mentally abused - in this case both she and Santos were suffering mentally - and so returns to the ghetto with two kids for you to take care of henceforth instead of dealing with the problem it shows you why society decays. The solution in life is not always giving our children what they want and pandering to their feelings. Good advice is critical for persons, family and society to progress. Thankfully Mr. and Mrs. Chengo ultimately chose to work it out together instead of running away from "problems" they had created.

@@lifewithtshidiedza381 did you count how many women killed their men last year or so far this year? If you married a violent spouse (usually these are elopements based on looks, lusts and sex and/or money and not on God's Standards, Teachings and Wisdom - they are come-we-stay immoral relationships) flee the first time they strike you or shows a hint. One slap is enough. Infidelity is also grounds for separation if you have not been withholding sex from your partner or using it as a weapon which many do and then cry out when the spouse finds sexual replacement. But if your spouse hides behind alcohol because he/she finds it difficult to deal with your madness when he/she is sober, it is not a signal to destroy the children's shelter - the home - when there is the option to humble yourself, take a step back, calm down and work out a solution.
