Helen Shivers deserved better! Absolutely adore her character, she was so well-written. The conflict with her sister, her struggle with insecurity despite her beauty, her dreams of being an actress falling through. She was surprisingly nuanced, which made her death even more shocking. Not to mention her chase scene is one of the most iconic in any slasher!

The reason she isn’t the final girl is cause she’s a dumbass. Her running scene is iconic bc she’s again dumb enough to stop and get her ass killed. Get over it

She was literally written to be the dumb blonde who dies, if SMG wasn't cast & someone else was in the role I honestly think Helen would be as annoying as Julie 🤷
@donnybuoy

@@ButtonDiet95 Disagreed. She isn’t dumb in the slightest, and there’s plenty of nuance and subtext that gives her character layers beyond “dumb blonde.” If you missed those things and really think she was just the “dumb blonde,” you weren’t paying attention and that’s not my problem 🤷🏻‍♂️
@jarrodoakley6911

@@donnybuoy The poster above is saying that she was nuanced and didn’t come across as dumb blonde a lot of which I was due to the actress. If another actress played the character off the script it could have easily come across as dumb blonde. A lot of the nuance was in her vocal inflections and facial expressions rather than the words she said

While this was not as highly rated as Scream, I kind of always thought it was on par with it in a lot of ways. Not every way, but a lot of ways. Good story, good antagonist, good mystery. Also pretty sure the movie Sarah Michelle and Freddie Prinz would meet. (They would go onto marry)

Kevin Williamson wrote the script for this movie, but all of the studios passed on it. Then he wrote "Scream." After that became a hit, "I Know What You Did Last Summer" finally got picked up. Freddie Prinze, Jr. auditioned for the role of Billy in "Scream," but lost to Skeet Ulrich, however, he did so well that they brought him in for this movie. He and the director did not get along, and Freddie said this was one of the worst experiences he has ever had filming a movie.

The second movie is probably more fun because it knows what it is. Part 1 spent the first half with Julie unlikeable. So much so that people latched onto Helen who was supposed to be the dumb blonde friend who dies. We knew she was a goner and we still gave her final girl status in our heads. Julie is much better in the sequel. She’s much more comfortable in the role and it shows. Her scream is even subpar in this movie compared to Still. But I love both. I bought a bootleg vhs of this after seeing it in the theaters so I could watch it over and over at home despite the obviously poor quality. Did the same thing with Scary movie and ended up with scenes not in the theatrical or dvd releases 🤷🏾‍♂️ it had alternate scenes

My grandma wouldn't let me watch them kind of movies until i was 15 - 16 yrs old. I'm 36 years old now. I'm a single mom of 2 daughters 12 and 5 and they have seen some horror movies (nothing with s*x, a lot of cussing ). I used to watch this and i still know what you did last summer and the scream movies, Poltergeist movies, .... on repeat. I think your girls are so adorable reminds me of my 5 yr old daughter lol she will be 6 in oct and starting kindergarten in 3 weeks so crazy.

The premise of this movie is just brilliant. There are so many horror movie plots that make no sense, but this film actually makes the situation seem plausible.

I really like this classic horror film. The actors did a good job and it's perfect timing that you watched it just in time for 4th of July. I Still Know What You Did Last Summer and I'll Always Know What You Did Last Summer are both good. Nice reaction. Happy 4th and stay safe.

Julie or Anne heche where my favourite heche was really creepy. I didn't here you mention that the fisherman killed David Egan. Also part 2 is very good and love Hewitt is looking amazing in it I got a crush on her from it. P.s do not watch the 3rd one its a stinker different cast more or less playing out part 1.
