I live in the Northeast part of the United States. I have never seen them used in this area. I saw them for sale in California when I was out there, but never used. I have seen what people refer to as "Bobbi Pins" all my life, but young women seem to rarely use them, or at least heavily anymore.

I love how do you say that it doesn’t have anything to do with hygiene because when I’m on the comment section on any of the ear wax channels that I watch there’s always a comment very stupid comment about “ eww they don’t have hygiene “ there’s 100 other Stupid comments that they make that it makes me angry so I love you said that it doesn’t have anything to do with hygiene at all❤😊
@lydiablake-simon7555
@lydiablake-simon7555 4 ай бұрын
It absolutely has to do with your hygiene. Most people use cuetips which do NOTHING for earwax but push it further and pack it tighter in your ear . I constantly am cleaning my ears I ordered ear wax removing tools that are made specifically for ear wax removal . And you will be surprised how quickly wax builds up in there . Most people do not do this they just get those cuetips , so if your using cuetips you do not have good hygiene and you are not taking care of your ears properly. When I go to the doctor, he is even impressed that I have no wax in my ears compared to many other patients he sees.

It was driving him mad and in desperation he went to A&E and they said the same so he asked where he should go and they said specsavers so he went there and the man had to write to our GP insisting he referred him to the hospital and he went deaf in that ear. COuld this have been prevented?

Sadly the cost prevents a lot of us from seeking help from a professional now the NHS no longer do this. My local chemist will look in your ears for £10 first off then charges £25 per ear thereafter. £50 is way too much to pay out for those say on benefits and who suffer regularly with ear problems. Not only that you feel more reassured you will be treated properly by someone at a drs surgery over someone at a chemists.
@altohear
@altohear 4 ай бұрын
Good points - and I don't disagree with you that ear wax removal should be accessible. I personally wouldn't recommend going to a chemists either to be honest as the training is likely to have been minimal and they aren't hearing care professionals who will necessarily know what to be looking for. It's not the procedure itself that requires training, it's knowing what to look for that needs onwards referral. On the cost... have a look at it from the other perspective. For us as a business, we have to cover rent, business rates, utilities, equipment & maintenance costs, full time reception staff, clinicians salaries, insurance, marketing our services - and then each ear wax removal incurs the costs of consumables - zoellner tubes, micro forceps, fine ends, jobs hornes - these are all expensive and can only be used once. Then the room has to be fully cleaned down. It isn't a funded service, so whilst the charges might seem high - you at least can be sure you are in the hands of professionals who work in audiology and are able to safely carry out the procedure and refer appropriately.

Since were talking about stuff people shove in their ear, i have a confession of my own: hair scissors 😅 the blades are as sharp as razor blades so i thought i could use one after a shower to simply scrape out the softened wax. Well, unsurprisingly this resulted in bleeding and many days of VERY itchy scabs 😅 (EDIT: I also had a bad habit of scratching an itchy ear with the tail of a separating comb. And one day i was doing so when my dad gave me a fright/made me jump - yup, you guessed it, FULL BLOWN stabbed myself in the ear with a giant metal spike 😂)
