From what I've seen, Stone Ocean is the most underrated part and I'm glad to see someone other than me absolutely love it It's my second favourite part after SBR

I wouldn’t call Stone Ocean underrated, It would be best to say “controversial” due to how split the opinions of it are. I personally do not like Part 6 however that doesn’t mean I think it’s bad, part 6’s 2nd half is a very enjoyable read.

It’s sad how many people hate part six only because they speed read through it to get to part 7 sooner when part 6 has some of if not the best characters, not character designs, stand designs, stand abilities, and character interactions and development

@@An1mystics In my opinion part 6 has all of the worst stands in the entire series condensed into one part. The Jumpin Jack Flash, Dragon's Dream, Bohemian Rhapsody, and Sky High fights are some of the worst stand fights in the entire series. I literally remember thinking to myself during the Dragon's Dream fight that it was wack as hell.

Have to disagree with you on part 4s ending. I thought it was really beautiful and emblematic of how the only thing that could stop yoshikage kira in this world was fate itself. Overall I think a super hype, climactic ending just wouldn’t fit the setting and vibe of the part and it proved araki could do something other than super over the top ending

Amazing video!! 43 hours of reading might not be seen as much if we compare it to other media like video games, but it's really a lot for a comic since some pages can be read in seconds. I can't even imagine how many hours did it take for Hirohiko Araki to draw all of these volumes.

28:09 I'm pretty sure the SBR origin for the word "stand" is different from the previous 6 jojo parts. Joseph states that it's called a "stand" at the start of part 3 simply because it 'stands' next to the user. Not sure if this is actually the reason for it being called a stand or if Joseph made it up on the spot to make Jotaro understand the concept but either way the SBR explanation is kinda cooler imo.

every now and then, i come back to this video, and while i haven't read/watched every jojo, i kind of feel fondness to his journey through the hours and days and the work Hirohiko Araki put in through the years to this series. Mountain Tim's explanation for why he called his stand a "stand" is not the first time an explanation is given for the name, nor is it an example of "Araki Forgot™"

Those are just the obvious ones as well. In part one alone there's over 10 references, and that part is short. Tom Petty, Dire Straights, Led Zeppelin, Wang Chung, Tarkus, Bruford, Page, Plant, Jones, Bonham, Jeff Beck, Styx. The story is literally riddled with references from the very get go. I wonder if its because its in Japanese, and the phonetics don't line up quite right, that Joey just misses some stuff because it doesn't sound right unless you know what to look for already. "Johnny develops from crippled coward person to a badass" That point is completely misinformed (i mean only 'coward' point about johnny). Yeah johnny is crippled from outside and inside. He is always depressed and always think about himself as weak and unrighteous but he is never coward. He is actually very knowledgeable and also experienced as a jockey as well as a person but he is very inexperienced in battles. That's why most of the badass scene is stolen by gyro in start of series. He himself is not very powerful but he is experienced and intelligent and experienced. Gyro used the ability of johnny in his advantage. For example their fights with oyecomova and wired where gyro used johnny's ability and knowledge in his advantage to defeat oyecomova and wired.

Ive watched all parts of the Anime and my Friend told me i should read the Manga to, and since part 4 is my favourite Part i now ordered the first 5 volumes of part 4 in the new Hardcover Versions, the first 3 were allready delivered and i must say, i, i love it! The beautifull colloured hardcovers, the Artstyle and at some points in the Books you also get some coloured pages which look absolutley beautifull!

About stand names, Araki mentions that when designing a character, he chooses a song and bases the characters stand and personality on that song, like how Purple Haze was about Jimmi Hendrix being saved from a dark time in his life, and PH's user, Panacotta Fugo, was saved by Buccellati when he was disowned by his family.
