Fun works I guess, the problem with fun is that you get bored fast and need to find the next fun thing over and over, and it doesn’t always work. Not the best key. I mean it’s a nice bonus, but it shouldn’t be how you decide on a fat loss activity. Just choose something repetitive that you find yourself alright with long term.

Good for you. Runner’s high. I was forced to run in high school and I dreaded the prolonged physical pain and misery that it brought on. I didn’t know how to handle that back then whereas now I’m probably a lot more resilient to stress and discomfort. I just avoid cardio because it doesn’t engage my goblin brain the same way something more intense and precise does like lifting weights, or callisthenics. I believe that it’s important but I just can’t bring myself to give a f**k 😂. Maybe some day

If anything is exercise and doesn't feel arduous, it's an amazing option. Some people hate VR and for them it's a horrible option, but for others it's just a game and an amazing alternative. Like I love running, but I do not recommend it to people who don't enjoy it. Whatever you enjoy and is easy for you to do, you will likely stick with it longer, thus making it a better option.

It does work especially for those of us who have a lot of weight to lose as sticking to VR boxing(thrill of the fight) has been easy and fun for me to keep going back to. Currently 2 months straight but I am also having great success in the kitchen which is most definitely doing the bulk of the work, I am currently down 30lbs (280 from 310) in those 2 months and I am up to doing 10 rounds of 3 minutes for a half hour almost every day. I take off one day a week typically as I'm in permanent soreness but picking up some basic skills from vr boxing is awesome.

IMO it's way better and easier to bring the gamification outside than trying something like VR for cardio :) There are quite a lot of challenges in Garmin Connect, Strava, etc. - daily steps, climbs, bike, run, swim... That's one of the fun factors that helped me in the beginning, then the progress took care of the rest :) Interesting video and kudos for sticking with that thing for the whole "project" :D Looks like a terrible experience :D

Thrill of the fight is a great cardio tool. I typically push my cardio harder playing that game than doing cardio in real life. I'll usually do a few bike sprints afterwards to max out my lungs, this formula has given me amazing endurance. Obviously, playing sports in real life is more fun but often takes way more time, commuting, scheduling, money etc. so it doesn't happen as often. I'll add a couple of lifting sessions to this and i'm in better shape than 95% of people. Being a bodybuilder or excessively obsessing about exercise is horrible our society glorifies steroid abusers who do extreme diets, use photoshop, plastic surgery, use makeup etc. our world has become vain beyond belief, it's not even about health.

Here's an interesting question, Josh. Recently there's been a push in nutrition by scientists to move away from counting calories is becuase estimating the in/out parts of the equation is impossible and therefore useless. There's no way to reliably measure/trust the calories in typical foods and there's no way to reliably measure our "calories out" portion either. Therefore they deny that CICO is even working when we do it. (It's not that CICO isn't the underlying mechanism, it's that we have no way to measure it). Now, I've been counting calories for around a year and I find that when I restrict by 500 calories a day and I measure my weight over the course of months I find that I do reliably lose 1 lb of fat per week. Which indicates that it IS working at least for me. What do you think about making a video covering this? It's something that I find interesting but also confusing and I think it may be interesting because fitness is so calorie focused and it seems to work well enough for us.

I love VR for cardio. I lost 18 kg playing VR and not dieting. Here's the gist of it. The games don't burn calories, your body movements burn calories. Here's my favorite demonstration of how the same person playing the exact same games doing the exact same movements as far as the games are concerned can be very different intensities of cardio kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qrVyhsyj27e5caM.html . As long as the game isn't so hard you'd die if you tried to goof off a little there's no limit to how far you can take this. For me personally I'd rank Josh's favourite Thrill of the Fight lower as exercise than Pistol Whip which he considered not even vigorous. What gives? Pistol Whip has an extraordinary amount of player freedom and stimulation. If it clicks for you it's a fantastic environment to goof off and dance in while pistol whipping enemies into orbit and doing non-stop deep squats. If you're too self-conscious about looking silly, you prefer to concentrate on scores, or it's just not your thing it's not going to work out since the game doesn't force you to do it, it merely permits it. Conversely, I can't punch like Josh can so I'm not getting what he's getting out of Thrill of the Fight. So finding games that click for you and are fun to you personally is important. My all-time faves are Pistol Whip, Audio Trip and Dance Dash. Also shout out to Big Termula as a fun Beat Saber exercise map. P.S. Pistol Whip bullet hell + dual wield melee has the specific style combo name "Very Sweaty". Try it on Hard, it's very fun!

You would not play Minecraft to learn mechanical engineering, and you should not play Beat Saber to do your cardio. If you learn some engineering concepts from Minecraft, your probably absolutely loved that game so much, that you learned all of its systems. I've managed to burn few calories in Pistol Whip (I actually got into that game to do "VR Fitness"), but even without that I would still play that game to the death, because I love its mechanics. Shooting through a scene in Pistol Whip with double pistols on highest difficulty gives me the thrill of defeating a boss in Dark Souls, but also burns calories, which granted, is a nice bonus - but its the bonus nonetheless. I agree with your video 100%, but also I just want to add, that not everything you do must must be also for your goals.

The only way YOU need to lose 15lb of bodyfat is if you were entering a bodybuilding competition! You truly look great mate! If you want to keep on adding muscle then it`d be good for you to keep that on and just keep adding muscle mass. I am certainly NOT saying that you need to bulk up bigtime but you would be in a great position to just keep adding muscle as you are, plus you will keep your strength up. Its nigh on impossible to gain muscle AND lose fat at the same time (unless you are a beginner, which you obviously are not) But this is coming from a bodybuilder.
