Consider stretching for 1 hour a day. When you recover, run on the beach if possible and notice how you automatically will start improving your form (leaning forward, forefoot strike, tightening your abs, relaxing your arms as the are needed for better balance.) these helped me.

I gave up hope for running this year and received word I would be running the NYC marathon yesterday. So I have 10 weeks to train and hopefully even be able to survive the entire 26.2 miles. With a hip injury and sciatica with my health insurance expiring. I'm taking a different approach to training focusing more on strength and core training and slowly building up my aerobic threshold. Some motivating content thanks.

Shervin, I had a similar problem: The trainer at my gym diagnosed me as being “muscle-bound like the Michelin Man”. He sent me off to physiotherapy where they taught me daily exercises to regain mobility (and lose “bulk”). Years later, my BMI is 27 (almost no “bulk”) and my running is a charm!

@@ShervinShares Muscle adds weight which raises impact forces on your joints - don’t overdo high impact sports like running (your body has 1,000 ways to tell you when it’s enough or more than enough). Pay attention to possible muscular imbalances (I still have one between left /right leg which is incredibly hard for me to get rid of). It looks like you are with the right people to orient/help you. Get well soon!

Take care mate. I also had a similar injury i had fractured my lateral cunieform also in the foot playing soap football. Make sure to learn walking correctly in pt once the cast is out. I didn't and I still have weird gait sometimes.

Was having lower leg pain for the last month and have been grounded. Through xray and MRI turns out I have exert compartment syndrome and need surgery. I'm are runner lifter and soccer player. 😢Listen to your body and don't over do it.

Like 90% of of what makes you good at distance running is just being lightweight (below 22 BMI, ideally 20 or less). VO2 max is measured in ml/kg/min. So what's the one surefire way to improve that, doing NOTHING else? Fewer kilograms! 😁 But also being heavier means more injuries. Your foot hits with 3x body weight when running. Not to mention that force is not just straight down, there's shearing force you have to compensate for, especially with less than perfect form. So a 200lbs runner's foot hits with 600lbs of force, while a 150 lbs runner's foot hits with 450, and a 120lbs runner's foot only 360 lbs.

As the great shot-putter, Brian Oldfield, once said: “Too strong to be quick.” Another Oldfield quote: “Like putting a Cadillac engine in a Volkswagen.” You have a Mr. Olympia body, so you’re not built perfectly for long-distance running. Don’t sweat it! I’m jealous. 👍👏💪

Consider skiing. Ski every day out every door. SpikeBoarding Skiing will help. The most casual form of skiing. Running will never stop injuring you.

I would get an MRI. Cuboid is a rare fracture. Get a tall boot, not short. Elevate and massage, Ace wrap.

Sorry to hear that you broke your foot. This isnt obviously ideal givem your marathon goal. I guess this just means a postponement, you can get back after it once you're healed.

Reload Physical Therapy seems like they know what they're doing! Keep at it 🦿 I've been watching your videos for over a year. I know your channel is all about experimentation and reviewing. But I think one thing that COULD have contributed to your injury is just that - a lot of experimentation. One thing I've learned over the years as a physical therapist and a person trying to stay active and injury-free in her 30's is that trial and error is good. It's frustrating. But good. They are opportunities for us to actively listen to what our body likes and dislikes, but also what it needs and when it needs it. That and to maximize inputs from professionals who can individualize programs to what you need - like that Reload place!
