The fictional character Spider-Man, a comic book superhero created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko and featured in Marvel Comics publications, has currently appeared in ten live-action films since his inception, not including fan made shorts and guest appearances in other Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) films. Spider-Man is the alter-ego of Peter Parker, a talented young freelance photographer and aspiring scientist imbued with superhuman abilities after being bitten by a radioactive/genetically-altered spider.
The first live-action film based on Spider-Man was the unauthorized short Spider-Man by Donald F. Glut in 1969. This was followed by Spider-Man, an American made-for-television film that premiered on the CBS network in 1977. It starred Nicholas Hammond and was intended as a backdoor pilot for what became a weekly episodic TV series.
The rights to further films featuring the character were purchased in 1985, and moved through various production companies and studios before being secured by Sony Pictures Entertainment (Columbia Pictures) for $10 million (plus 5% of any movies' gross revenue and half the revenue from consumer products),[1] who hired Sam Raimi to direct Spider-Man (2002), Spider-Man 2 (2004), and Spider-Man 3 (2007) starring Tobey Maguire. The first two films were met with positive reviews from critics, while the third film received a more mixed response.
In 2010, Sony announced that the franchise would be rebooted. Marc Webb was hired to direct, with Andrew Garfield starring, and The Amazing Spider-Man (2012) was released to positive reviews. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014) saw mixed reviews.
In February 2015, Disney, Marvel Studios and Sony announced a deal to share the Spider-Man film rights, leading to a new iteration of Spider-Man being introduced and integrated into the MCU. The deal allows Sony to distribute and have final creative control over MCU films where Spider-Man is the main character, while Disney distributes the ones where he is not. Tom Holland portrays this younger version of Spider-Man, appearing in Captain America: Civil War (2016), Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017), Avengers: Infinity War (2018) and Avengers: Endgame (2019), as well as the sequel to Homecoming, Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019). All of Spider-Man's MCU appearances have received positive reviews thus far.
Marvel's Spider-Man, or simply Spider-Man, is an American animated television series based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name. It is a replacement for the previous series, Ultimate Spider-Man, and premiered on August 19, 2017 on Disney XD.
The series was renewed for a second season in early 2018[1][2] which premiered on June 18, 2018.[3] The show will be retitled Marvel's Spider-Man: Maximum Venom for its third season, which was announced on May 30, 2019 for a Spring 2020 release.[4]

Can we just talk about who EVERYBODY at Horizon High is capable of making Tony Stark-level tech? When Peter's classmates are a bunch of mini-Reed Richards, Peter's otherwise unique traits become boring and uninteresting. This isn't Spider-Man, it's a kid in a costume. Shame on you, showrunners. Shame on you.

Horizon high, was WORST possible place to send teenager peter Parker because all of his friends are all the same nerd stereotypes. Having all of Peter’s friends be nerds removes peter’s unique treats. You can’t have a party of white mages after all.

scumbag benis Homecoming gets some leeway because even though his friends a pretty smart Peter is still a lot smarter than them, there's even a line were Liz says that Peter is the smartest person she knows(in a school with a bunch of pretty smart kids). The thing about this like Luckysix said is that everyone is smarter than peter so no one is unique. It just makes peter look dumber than he already does in the show.

What?? But Peter Parker ALWAYS goes to a science-school. The only versions where he doesn´t are the Raimi and Amazing Spiderman films. The Spectacular Spiderman cartoon had Peter going to a scientific school, and its one of the best versions of Spiderman that there is.

Its interesting you mention "Spider-Man written by the CW" given that, in the US, Spectacular Spiderman season 1 aired on Kids WB, aka The CW. Season 2 aired on Disney XD though.

I used to think it was pretty ok as a kid,sense it wasn't in a world where Spider-Man is the only hero and he has 50 villains to fight thru. I liked the fact that each morning I got up,I didnt know what to expect. It could've been a regular Spidey story or a team up with Luke Cage,Iron Fist,White Tiger and Nova in a battle against the Juggernaut at Peters Highschool. I loved the fact there were always other heroes and the Avengers and S.H.I.E.L.D appeared often. Now I do get annoyed at Parkers constant pausing so he can say a lame joke,but I have a little bit of nostalgia for the first 2-3 seasons. Also it was my first introduction to Task Master and the idea of a Multi-Verse,that gave it a couple points as well

Let Disney make their own MCU and Animated Spider-Man and let Sony give me my Spider-Man movies and good animated series. If aunt may was having financial problems then how did Peter get in Horizon High. I would’ve thought Peter would reject the offer bc he cares about aunt may and would put aside his desire for the betterment of his aunt. Im not saying he is selfish Im just saying that this is more connected to spider-man than what we have in this show.

He ended up getting an internship type of thing under Max Modell. He didn’t have to pay anything, and when the internship was over, he had to figure out how to pay the rest of it. He never wanted Aunt May to pay for it.

I agree. Ultimate has a better artstyle and they put more effort into it then Marvel's Spider-Man. I agree that the show isn't as nor close to being as good as a Spider-Man adaptation should be. But for me it was fun to watch.

All versions of Spiderman are different and I've learned to accept that not every adaptation will be perfect but honestly there's nothing we can do about it.

You're right on pretty much every part of this review. It was advertised as a "back to basics" version after USM (aka Spider-Man Agent of SHIELD and his Spider-Buddies). But it reeks of involvement of Joe Quesada and Dan Slott, two people who have shown they don't understand the character and shouldn't have anything to do with him. Slott created Max Modell and Horizon Labs in the comics, so of course he wants to retcon that in this Spidey origin, Max is the most important person in Peter's life (so much so that SPOILER he reveals his origin to his friends and the school board to try to save Max's job, which is dumb on so many levels). Your comparison of Hogwart's is spot on. Horizon High is basically super-geniuses creating scientific magic every day, which begs the question: if they can create all of this, how is there still hunger and war and crime and climate change in this world, if literal teenagers can invent magic science like this in their spare time? The completist in me forces me to watch every episode of this series. But it's a chore. There's literally no fun to be had from watching this show. Which is sad.

Not only that most of the Villains are the kids at the school 😭😭 the prowler in the show and it has nothing to do with miles either he's in the show.. Electro is some black teenager and I think the Rhino is a teenager at midtown as well.. And the sandman is a teenager and a girl😭(ik the prowler was somebody else before miles uncle but it would of been better if it was his uncle but he still a teenager)

I had so much hope after "Ultimate Disappointment" but this show just didn't work. I heard it got better but I can't bring myself to watch after the first season. Maybe when it's over I'll look into it.

Let's also not forget that Anya and Gwen have spider powers still after the island of spiders. Which let's be honest is stupid, I'm fine with Miles since into the spider verse gave him character, but Anya and Gwen getting powers is just to much, and they're perfect with the powers unlike Peter who is bashed and is down graded to make everyone else with spider powers look better.

@@monke1599 not really,Disney owns the tv rights,but Sony also owns them(sort of).The reason I say sort of is because there are contract leaks that state that Sony still owns the Tv animated rights for spider man.But the catch is that each episode has to be at least 44 minutes of Sony wants to make it.

I personally loved the way Peter Parker was in the first few episodes of this series. The way Peter talked about Science was more in line with how an autistic kid would talk about something that interests him, and as someone with Autism, I related to that a lot. While my interest wasn't science, I did have moments where I would be annoying talking about things I care about, such as Art, Animation, Pokémon Lore, and Spider-Man Lore. Sadly no one picked up on the concept that Peter could be a kid with Autism, and due to outlash towards the show, the writers dropped that concept. They definitely toned down the Science talk about half way through Season 1. Sadly, this dropped how relatable I found Peter, but you might enjoy the show after they drop that. And if you're worried about it not feeling like Spider-Man because he doesn't have to work for anything, try Season 2 (except start with Season 2 Episode 2 because Episode 1 is the worst Episode of the show), Season 2 takes away his scholarship, he has to work for the Daily Bugle, and it handles his emotions about Uncle Ben a lot better. For example, Eddie Brock breaks into his house, and Peter tries to stay as calm as possible while he tries to tell him to leave, but as soon as Eddie breaks the picture frame of Uncle Ben by his bedside, he gets pissed and orders him to leave, just for Eddie Brock to reveal he's Venom. Just saying, don't judge a book by it's cover.

The only parts I actually liked about this series was the “Superior Spider-Man” and “the Goblin nation” arcs. Parts of Maximum Venom were okay especially with MJ. But other than that, the rest of this was annoying garbage.

They're introducing Superior Spider-Man in Season 2, maybe it will be better. But until now I hate it. And yes I fell for it when he said Marvel's Spider-Man I thought its the PS4 game but looked at the suit and I was like *this isn't the advanced suit* in the thumbnail then remembered there's that 2017 show called Marvels Spider-Man.

The problem with kids cartoons isn't the fact that they're aimed at kids, it's how a lot of them have the audacity to treat kids like idiots. Take Batman the Animated Series or Spectacular Spider-Man, they're both kids shows but they don't pull their punches and treat the audience like idiots. Studios need to realize that kids shows are not the same as early education programs, kids shows are basically just general entertainment meant to be enjoyed by everyone.

Marvel's spider-man isn't spectacular or the 90's series, but I find it to be passable for the most part. I like it for its back to basics approach, however having additional spider powered characters like miles is a bit jarring. I thought the showrunners would wait till Peter is more established as spiderman before introducing the other spiderverse characters, at least for one season. Also the supporting characters take too much of the spotlight away from Peter/Spidey that it makes him look rather ordinary and not....well...amazing or spectacular. The show so far is slightly getting better, I'm curious to see how they are going to implement the superior spiderman arc in the coming weeks, and I will say that I like this show more than ultimate spiderman.

Though I do like the show, I do recommend checking out Stretch Armstrong And The Flex Fighters, another action show with a heavy science theme. The show was developed by Victor Cook (Darkwing Duck, Spectacular Spiderman, Scooby Doo Mystery Incorporated, TOTS) and both Kevin Burke & Chris Doc Wyatt (Ultimate Spiderman, Transformers Rescue Bots, this series, Super Dinosaur).

Spectacular Spider-Man is a show that’s not just about Spider-Man fighting bad guys it’s about what most Spider-Man cartoons are like it’s about friendship,trust,bravery,love,death,responsibility that’s what makes these Spider-Man cartoons so special everything that we want in a Superhero Cartoon. Its like a toned down ultimate Spiderman & that's not good... Ultimate sucked but had some what potential in a sense. STAS will always be the best, &spectacular. I had hoped this series would have been like those two, I was wrong came the Spider Gwen episode & the others that followed...
